I think you had problems with paying the Visa in Kenya. Did you have any sort of problem in Rwanda? Did you have extra cash or did they take card?

The 767: UN as in Transaero, or as in United Nations?

Cruising altitude of 38,000 for a flight that short? Wonder the reason why?

I don't see why someone wouldn't fly either Rwandair's nonstop EBB-KGL or Qatar Airways' EBB-KGL unless price was a factor...

@jj that was going to be my question exactly because I too was unpredictable ared at Nairobi so was curious about Kigali.

Rwandair is much fancier now than when I flew them. Back in 2007 it was an old US Airways prop plane, and the boarding passes were hand written.

@AJO given than Transaero ceased to exist in 2015 I think it's safe to assume Lucky means the United Nations.

Not uncommon for Africa, especially for smaller planes. Consider yourself lucky given the short distance that you weren't forced to take a bus anyway.

Also your comment about the route - clearly they have enough demand of people going directly to the final destination and people only going on half of it and this is also common practice in Africa to have multiple stops and people get on and off, etc (e.g. they can sell tickets for any leg of the trip)

Travelled intra-Africa a lot over the years and even though it’s not unusual for the captain to sit in the cabin it never seems right but TIA

RwandAir flights on this route should be banned because the seats are not lie flat with doors. This means that Rwandan government officials will have to suffer if they travel on this route.

Such a move is not without basis as an all economy flight was not allowed.

Aren't those the old Emirates F class busses?

Thank you for great reviews. I will be flying to Kigali in couple of weeks. I have heard from colleague of mine about the experience his sister had when she flew to Kigali couple of months ago. After landing and picking up her luggage she went through security check, and security officer, who was very rude, emptied and searched all her luggage and took her malaria pills and advil pills, claiming that those items are not allowed in the country without "import certificate". She luckily didn't get malaria, but she was stressed because of it during her entire stay there.
I will also be taking malaria pills and some other travel meds and I don't want them to be taken away from me.
What was your experience after arriving to Kigali? Did you see other people being harassed and their bags searched and their stuff confiscated for no reason? Thank you.
