I’m not sure what exactly is going on here, but this is sort of intriguing…

There has been an uptick of late with luxury round the world "plane tours" such as Four Seasons, Aman and countless others. Even specialty historical trips like the Pan Am Experience that is being sold as of late. With that I have been wondering if we would eventually see a travel company develop that markets these on a larger scale and at much lower price points. Kind of a "cruise in the air" concept. All premium, but scaled up to like 200 people instead of however many are on FS jets and making it more affordable (compared to FS) at a cost of being less personal.

Expell North African illegal immigrants from the EU or Central and South Americans from the U.S. perhaps? …. 🙂

One doubts that it will be used for luxury travel purposes you mentioned Antwerp …. would you go on a safari, etc, with such a potential plane load of tourists? …. 🙂

Either Mahan Air or the nut jobs in Saudi that are trying to start up A380 operations to US destinations. Either one will be a wild success!

Maybe it'll be LH's new all-Allegris A380 with seats that can't be certified!

If they follow in the wise steps of LX, then they’re probably waiting on 20 tons of lead to put in the tail of the plane.

Did Global ever pay anything for this, and then try to get out of it when they realised the seats were unusable? Wonder if that’s why it’s taken them so long to acquire more aircraft cos they were stuck with this one.

But wouldn’t they try to prioritize A340 or 747-400? B-2445 should be up for grabs, as well as any A340 that will be offloaded from Edelweiss, Swiss, or Lufthansa

I would love for Mahan Air or Iran Air to get an A380. Imagine their livery on it! And they will have Singapore Airlines' oldest interiors! Avgeek galore!!!

Most OMAAT readers probably do associate the A380 with luxury.
But given how low the demand for A380s is, and so the acquisition price being close to zero, is the total-cost-per-seat-journey the lowest option available, even allowing for the renovation maintenance and the fuel for 4 engines?

The larger of Hebridean Island Cruises' two ships, the 61-year-old Hebridean Princess, carries just 50 passengers. It primarily sails out of Oban, a Scottish town of ~24,000 people.

I find the idea of an A380 connected to this charming small-ship cruise line ludicrous.

Judging by the fact that it's currently in Germany, probably it's going to the German government to help with their stepped up deportation efforts.

Perhaps being readied as a gift for The Donald?

Albert, sadly with the wet, woke, loony left Labour government ministers who currently pollute Westminster, they are more likely to let the illegals in that fly them out. Like the USA, apparently there is little hope for UK Caucasian citizens.

Maybe it’s the federal government leasing it for the eminent mass deportations?

Strip the thing for parts, then burn what remains. All of these fat pigs must never fly again and the world must lose its memory that it ever existed. All Airbuses are garbage. This is the pig that eats the garbage.

It appears my comment was lost in explanation. That's on me. My thought is taking the concept of around the world jet "cruises" (loosely based on FS and Aman amongst others) and bringing a new variation that opens it up to people who don't want to spend $150K for one of these trips but might spend $25K. The A380 would be perfect. Especially aligned with a company that operates regional cruises.

No @Aero...I never said they are going to want to develop Safari itineraries as part of the trip. Clearly that is not going to work. But you could see more attainable locations that are cruise ship type destinations that can handle 200 people at once easily (still less than a cruise in most cases) and offer experiences faster and in a unique fashion. With the added push of it being "Around The World" which is a schtick with the higher end luxury companies.

I wouldn't take it. It's awful sounding to me. Nor would I cruise. But clearly a lot of people do.

It must be a struggle to function mentally and socially when a politician lives rent-free in your mind 24/7. Just a completely random musing on my part...No specific posters or specific politician in mind. Honest!

That would be German government’s deportation efforts. US Government does not source its planes in Germany.

Oh yeah, German government usually resorts to box cars and gazenwagens.
