I shouldn't have read this right before lunch. It made me quite hungry and made my lunch look pathetic.
My wife agrees with you about the hardness of the bed and claims the Air New Zealand version is better. However, everything else on our flight from JFK-ZRH was as perfect as you describe.
My JFK-ZRH menu was identical--and simply fabulous! You didn't order a bowl of soup? Their were four choices of soup on my flight and the creamy tomato was exceptional. And you missed out on those veggies!
Thanks for this section of the report. It appears that the SAS lounge is the place to go as opposed to the LX F lounge at ORD. Is there a LH lounge at ORD?

@ chitownflyer -- Lufthansa uses the United IFL at ORD, given that they depart from the United terminal.
My one landing in Zurich was the exact opposite. Easily the bumpiest, hardest landing I have ever had. Granted it was a Delta flight but still, not a fun experience at all.
That LX lounge in ORD is quite pathetic, I guess that's why OZ switch to JL lounge. JL lounge is bigger but the food is still bad, I guess *A partners should really move to T1 and use UA IFL instead.
I love flying Swiss. My favorite detail is when they close the overhead bins. Instead of a hard slam like most airlines, it's a quiet push. I think it really sets the tone for what's to come.

I was wondering, you mention in your post that this is the new Swiss First product. But it's not the new A330-300 on ORD-ZRH route, is it?
@ thyeri -- Thanks for the kind words! ORD-ZRH switches between A333 and A343 depending on the time of the year. If your flight shows as an A333 it will have the new config, but if it's an A343 you're out of luck for the time being. In summer it was an A333, but I believe it's an A343 now.
@the ORD lounge and the newer F lounge is much better (still small), but the service is great I was "walked" to the lounge by the receptionist and the waitress is really attentive.
On the down side I was expecting my welcome letter and only got checked in in 10sec by an OK unfriendly agent...sniffff
