This is the end of the 747 for Oneworld, as both QF and BA have now retired the 747. The Star Alliance (LH and CA) and SkyTeam (KE) will at least have the 747-8 for the foreseeable future, but they may go the way of the A380.

Very classy, Qantas. Love it that the Queen gets a proper send off.

Feeling sad. I flew the 747 as a child, later many times as an adult, also on Qantas flights. She’s part of my life.

It was very cool. Would love to have been on one of the last "joy" flights - they sold out within minutes. Sadly in Melbourne so not going anywhere!

I grew up in sight of the plant where the 747s were built (and yep, my dad worked there too). This makes me sad, but happy that the old girl got a proper send off from our Aussie friends.

I will miss the queen but it has to be said it was rough down the back from BNE to LAX on the way to Vegas.

In business it makes very little difference , but at the back of the bus (economy) , the 787 is a woeful replacement to the 747.

Joe Sutter vision soild engineering lead with passion and skill both
Outcome a great product that created markets

Not completely relevant to conversation but now all they are doing is sacking great engineers doing a lousy catchup to airbus while commiting criminal arrogant offences to say the least
What a fall from sky litterally !

At least President Trump is getting 2 new Air Force Ones. They will be the best 747s in the sky. Better than ever witnessed. Never been done.

Goodbye 74- one of the last icons of a previous, golden age of aviation. I'll never forget those trips, and have nostalgia about them everytime I fight a TSA line three miles long.

Technically Airforce One isn't even a 747. It's a VC-25A, just the AF's totally customized 747-2b.

They basically just take a body, and everything else is 100% customized, including all kinds of classified things one can only speculate about.
