In 2019, Delta bought a stake in LATAM, which had huge implication for aviation in the Americas. LATAM left the oneworld alliance, and has since launched a joint venture with Delta. Several years after the partnership launched, LATAM will finally fly to Delta’s biggest hub.

There are also reports of LATAM Peru acquiring LHR slots (not sure of status), so we could also see that destination launching soon

How would LATAM operate a flight from Atlanta to Cartagena with a 737, considering they have none in their fleet?

I am so happy that LATAM is coming to my airport (ATL). Hopefully this is a sign of more international carriers coming to the airport in the near future.

It's nice to see that LA is adding a new spot in its destination map, but I still think it was unfortunate that it had to leave OW after DL invested in it. Well, biz is biz...

This is great news! However, one thing to point out is that the service between Atlanta and Lima has been using an Airbus 350 (exLatam) for quite a few months now; not sure where the comment of it being upgraded comes from.

I also second your sentiment on my high hopes of seeing more Delta nonstop service out of Miami. Here’s to hoping that happens soon, even if it’s to just a few major cities in the US.

As a fellow Atlantan, I completely agree. LATAM, Ethiopian, and (less recently) Copa flying to ATL is such great news. I hate how much of a stranglehold Delta has on everything here. And they’ve brainwashed most locals to think there’s nothing better than DL too. Classic Stockholm Syndrome I guess

Still very sad they left OW. I wonder if the Chilean government is happy with connectivity now?

I’m still waiting on Emirates to come to the ATL. Here is my short list of carriers that should come to the ATL.

Royal Air Maroc
TAP Air Portugal
Aerolineas Argentina
Caribbean Airlines

Any carriers that I missed, add them to the list.

Would not be much for connectivity in those alliances though.
