There’s little in the world I find more interesting than planes with very unusual aircraft configurations. Whether it’s Azman Air’s Airbus A340 with two business class seats (well, it’s now in Iran for ”maintenance”), or Georgian Airways’ Boeing 767 with two first class seats. Well, we can now add yet another airline to the two…

The tail actually has the Udmurt cross on it, not the Maltese. So they did repaint it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Udmurts

Interesting indeed. I tried to do a mock up booking and it does show business class availability for 2 passengers but not 3.
Also, they have some pretty interesting service offerings - like photoshoot in Tu-134. Or you can request to have someone on the flight be congratulated with whatever special occasion over PA during flight...

Per CHRIS, Air Transat has some intriguing planes and it's a fun experience - you should review them.

Hi Ben,

The most likely reason is that a business class seat is required by law or collective agreement for crew rest in longer flights.

Interesting... as others mentioned, look at Air Transat and some of its similar configurations.

Either maybe crew rest for longer flights... or the reason being because of hitting some sort of maximum capacity for the aircraft certification? That is how Spirit's A319's ended up with 10 Big Front Seats... where seats 3D/F were a two seat pair on aircraft right while directly across the aisle was 4A/B/C. That was because 145 was the magic number for FAA certification for the number of exits.
