Haha that's so weird to hear that you didn't think they were an actual airline! I fly with them a fair bit and do some writing for them and have always had good experiences. Their Great British Lounge in LHR is fantastic also.

Btw: The BMI seats are refurbished LH seats. LH is phasing them out since they now have the 'Neue Europakabine' (NEK).

I've flown BMI for most of the past decade, only on trips between LHR and either the UK or the Republic of Ireland, usually on an A319. Service was fine for these short flights, although I initially was surprised that ordinary beverages (e.g. tea, coffee) were chargable.

I was disappointed when they went from a 2-cabin C/Y configuration to an all-Economy cabin, as they often moved me from my Y seat into a C seat for op-up reasons. Apparently they don't have lots of *G passengers and used *G as the basis for deciding to move me forward.

Their domestic lounge at LHR is quite nice and convenient for departures to either UK or Eire, although inbound to Europe
I usually pit-stop by the Star Gold lounge first to shower.
One of the nicest features of the BD *G lounge is that few noisy
Americans show up, so it is peaceful and quiet.

Ok, I laughed pretty hard at this, but then I still haven't ever flown the airline myself..

And many people also have that opinion of Air Canada, and they have the best service of any North American airline.

If I was being a pedant, would BRITISH Midland have real AEROplanes and real people? 🙂

I think think the new interior on bmi's fleet looks great, and the offer a reasonable product on these short flights. As always, the trip is as good as the crew.

Perhaps the Daily Mail guy had been reading your earlier post and didn't want to get caught in a compromising position, so retreated to the lav ...
