Backed by Air Arabia ( owned by Etihad ), sounds a bit strange, yesterday I watched the CEO of Etihad on the Simply Flying webcast telling us that Etihad would no longer be investing in other airlines after the disasters with Air Serbia, Air Berlin, Virgin Aust etc; and the very next day, we read they are at it again. Strange times we live in.

I wonder what FlyArmenia and Aircompany Armenia have to say about this. I thought Aircompany Armenia was already the “national airline” of Armenia. At the same time, Aircompany is banned from the EU, so hopefully this new airline will be able to serve places that Aircompany couldn’t. Also, I agree with Aaron; this new airline should buy a couple of 787-9s to serve Los Angeles, which has the largest Armenian diaspora in the US.
It's not owned by Etihad. But they did launch an airline called "Air Arabia Abu Dhabi" with funding from both Etihad and Air Arabia.
