I probably need my head checked, because I can’t get Ethiopian Airlines’ boarding music out of my head. When I’m not listening to it on repeat, I’m humming it… grrr!

@ Tom -- Enjoy your flight! And if in business class, hope you lucked out and got the new cabin, unlike me!

Admittedly, I *loathe* boarding music as a concept: all it does is psychologically reinforce how long we sit, and sit, and sit, and sit, before even moving an inch.

In June I flew Toronto-Addis-Libreville-Yaounde in one go, so 3 flights in one day and I thought hearing the boarding music one more time might make me go mad.

Haha thanks for the memories!!

I had 4 ET flights in July JFK-ABJ-ADD-FBM-LLW and had this stuck in my head for so long!

You must learn to live with it in your head.

It never goes away.

If it makes you feel any better, the same music is also used in a 3 minute infomercial that plays whenever you start up any program on the IFE.

The original Thai Airways music from 2006-2012 was the best. Always created a great feeling before setting off.

In my view, one specific rendition of the "Rhapsody in Blue" sets the standard for boarding music 😉

People tend to confuse Ethiopia with Somalia. We’re the pirates. :))

"(well, plus the part in the safety video where a guy tries to light a cigarette,"

I know. It's very lame. They would do well to upgrade the safety video.

@Ben, it'd be nice to read an article about airlines that still play boarding music (I believe that's becoming a thing of the past, unfortunately, right?)

It’s fairly new. Last year they had the mime. They have returned to professionalism.

You can’t escape it. It’s like a trap.

This one time I looked up “can’t get music out of my head” after an ET flight. Webmd said it was a sign of brain aneurism (and cancer because everything is). I did further checks.

This music goes back to 1996ish. I’ll admit I wish it was Ethiopian instrumentals.

I like the old TK boarding music the best https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7gOpNLG5HE&pp=ygUfdHVya2lzaCBhaXJsaW5lcyBib2FyZGluZyBtdXNpYw%3D%3D

Beautiful video as well and soothing to listen

I got a few complaints from viewers on YouTube for having the boarding music in all my Ethiopian Airlines videos lol. It's their music and it only made sense to have it in the videos. I'm glad I finally got to fly Ethiopian my very first African carrier. Would have loved to have had some Ethiopian food on board, but that only exists in Business Class I believe. Will need to find some Ethiopian place in Toronto.

The same was the case with ANA, Turkish Airlines, Emirates and Etihad and their boarding music in my YouTube videos.... Time to try some new airlines!!

Ethiopian absolutely has the best and most aggravatingly memorable theme / boarding music. It adds so much to the experience, I love it.

Ethiopian theme song my favorite boarding music. They haven’t changed it for more than a decade but it never gets old!

I think the part where the guy tries to light a cigarette is in there as there may be pax who still think it's okay to smoke on board. There were pax still on their cellphones as we were thundering down the runway on the Ethiopian 777-300ER Addis Ababa to Dubai flight. I recall on an Etihad Airways flight out of Karachi an FA stood over a group of guys on their phones and did not move till they got off and put the phones away.

Also I hear this is the video as well as in the announcements at the airport .... It sounds like Muchachu...

You are supposed to smoke the hookah or dope and this soundtrack will surely double your hallucigenic experience. Alcohol isn't a substitute.

You are one of the most boring people in the world. You live such an exciting life, yet you are as exciting as watching paint dry

Actually, the words are made up. I have a close friend from Ethiopia. He is quite a linguist. But he doesn't understand the lyrics too. I also asked an Ethiopian guy sitting next to me on the airplane to translate. I wanted to know the name of the band and title track. He said he has never heard it before. He thought it was Chinese! Then he said it was probably just composed with made up word sounds. So I Shazamed it several times. No luck there too. Then I googled "Ethiopian Airlines boarding theme song" and there it was! I play it as my lullaby every night. It is beautiful and calming.
