An EL AL 777 go around at JFK turned into a mess of unclear communication, from a skipped runway readback to a controller who answered "I don't know."

Let's face it.
We need to eliminate humans from both positions. All these needless errors that on a perfect storm would lead to catastrophe.

But in this case, obviously El Al pilots are never wrong.

Oh yeah, let's do it with maximum AI, because we know AI will protect us and have our best interests at heart. Said no one, other than Mark F***erberg, Sam Altman, or that cyborg Peter Thiel.

Yes, do make it about what the Bible said the Jews were promised. There isn't enough antisemitism without making any incident the fault of all the Jews.

There was one other item missing from the summary. ATC said "2,000" and ElAl 7H went to 4,000. When he switched to TRACON(?) he said he was at 4,000 heading 130 and was not told to descend to 2,000.

Then when he called TWR again at 3,000 I'm entirely unsure when he was cleared to descend OR why the "typical hating controller" didn't bitch ElAl was 1,000ft ABOVE where he was told to go.

The abbreviation FOD (Foreign Object Debris) isn't a term in the AIM or FARS. It exists in some FAA Circulars for ground/maint ops, not TWR and flight ops. The correct method is to communicate in English WHAT is on the runway, such as in the initial report "Animal on RWY 4". Nobody said goose until TWR made that out of whole clothe, but calling it FOD was wrong.

Let me start by stating that I am proudly Jewish and support Israel, though not the current government (much the same as my attitude towards the United States where I live).

Gavron, I reread the article and comments to look for anti semitic statements or anything resembling a "blame the Jews" attitude and did not find any. Substitute United, Delta, AA, Lufthansa, Emirates, Saudia, etc.. and the article and facts remain the same. So please stop with the outrage where nothing to be outraged about exists. It makes all that more difficult to be taken seriously responding to actual anti-semitism.

On any given day a 777 captain is going to be considerably more intelligent & capable than anyone working the JFK Tower. If there's any "bad piloting", as Ben refers to it, then it's up to the controller to use internationally standardised ATC terminology to ensure that their instructions have been clearly understood, like controllers would at Guarulhos, Bole, or Pudong. This clown failed to do so.

When the controller said, “I don’t know, I’m not sure”, I'm fairly certain he thought he was talking to SV021 and answering his question.

What a cluster.
