Discover Airlines is Lufthansa’s leisure subsidiary that’s primarily focused on long haul flights. We’ve known that the airline plans to grow its fleet of Airbus A330s, and also intends to take delivery of some Airbus A350s as of 2027 (which are ex-Philippine Airlines A350s).

Hopefully those used A350s they're getting from Philippine Airlines won't include the poop-scoop one.

So basically the same as Edelweiss, just in an A330 rather than an A350.

Probably the first sensible decision LHG has made (unless the Thompson Aero Vantage XL gets delayed due to supply chain issues, and then its stupid for LHG to put all of its eggs in one basket).

The seats look nice. LHG needs to ditch the ole Eurowings liveries. A little too much stigma; when I see that teal and magenta, I can't help but think of 9525.

They are not using Allegris? I guess LH realized how big a disaster that is.

I’m not sure why it would remind you of Germanwings 9525, since at the time of that event nearly 11 years ago:
- D-AIPX was in the Germanwings maroon and yellow livery
- a grand total of 4 aircraft were in the Eurowings maroon and teal livery: D-AIZQ, R, S, T.

The ex-PAL A350s already have the same Vantage XL seats. They have the reclining PY seats which I think are better than the hard shells.

I wonder if some of it is supply chain issues? It looks like barely 15% of the widebody fleet has Allegris (even removing the aircraft that are getting retired/transferred in the next couple years, it's still just 25%). It has been 21 months since this refurb started, Finnair completed their business class seat refurb with a custom seat in a similar amount of time that LH has barely made a dent.

So this officially confirms that Lufthansa has learned their lesson with allegris. Especially with them and Edelweiss getting similar cabins

Looks like another front row “first class” product to add to the list like starlux. 🙂

Can LH just give up and use the same seat please?

Who would think that "leisure" airlines, like Discover or Edelweiss, show much more sense, and restraint in a good way, when installing new seats against the antics of "mother" LH?

as always footroom is the issue, and I'm sensing no improvement here

You can see it differently and think LHG is taking a tiered approach with the full service carriers getting a custom product they consider superior/premium and in which they have invested more while the leisure airlines get little attention and just a tick the box product with something off-the-shelf.

I don't think they learned any lesson. They intentionally went with a differentiated offering.

Now that the pax actually recognize Allegris as superior to those seats to the point they'd pay the premium and would not go out of their way to avoid it, will be the interesting question.
