This is something that has been in the industry for years. Back when UA flew IAD-KWI some of the regular FA crews that flew the route were “recruited” by the AF and LH girls to “host” gents in the region. My money is on this is more widespread then any one realizes.
Are you sure you don't mean India? Their open defecation rate is still around 65% which they'll deny of course - while that of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka is ZERO. Ask the locals on Phuket beach what they think of Indian tourists defecating on their beaches.
