Isn't Beond having a hard time filling up its one plane? What makes it think that they can expand and succeed?
Shooting from the hip, it always seemed to me there would be a market for 1-2 lie-flat seats on each airplane for U.S. domestic routes. For example, there are many people who fit in between the ~$800 recliner seat and the $50,000 private flight. I imagine a solid market of people who would pay $2k-3k to be conformable, like the transcontinental routes.
However, filing an entire plane with this customer would be difficult.
This is just my opinion backed by no actual data.
Why do you never link to the actual press releases? It helps the reader to better understand what is going on, or at least what the airline is sharing, and gives you a SEO boost, assuming you link appropriately which I don't doubt you would do.
Seems like a no brainer.
@ 9C -- Fair point. So typically I do link to press releases. The reason I didn't link here is because I don't see the Beond America announcement on Beond's website yet. I did add the link to the other announcement, though. I'll continue to try to do this in the future.
An announcement without substance is b-YAWN-ed unbelievable given their track record. Who knows, maybe it’ll happen, but I don’t buy a word of it right now.
There is a lot of money sloshing around, especially in the Dubai zip codes of the Middle East, where Beyond’s HQ is located, so I believe Ben is right with his statement that this is probly targeted at investors.
The data is there. It's in the actual airlines who have tried it in the past and failed. It doesn't work in the domestic market. Even premium heavy flights on mainline carriers have struggled on the often battled NYC-LAX routes. The reality is, why would you pay $3K for a one way between NYC and LAX for that product when you could get a seat with JetBlue in Mint for far less. Further, the prices of private have dropped since many of those failures in the past leading the very top in the scale to easily book private jets.
I am a foodie and, trust me for this post, a great home chef. I also have a graduate business degree. I have had so many ideas for a no-chance-to-fail restsurant, both one-off and chain. I have watched a lot of money get p!ssed done the drain from others' thinking they could succeed. I've never entered the business, because, I like my money. I am contantly amazed at lawyers, doctors, accountants with good assets and income that p!ss away a good share on their restaurant idea. Airlines? More money and lower chance to succeed.
People with ‘assets’ can afford to make mistakes and face less consequences; and, good luck telling lawyers, doctors, or accountants “no” when they have bad ideas…

The old "easiest way to be a millionaire: be a billionaire and start an airline" logic.
The more the US gets stratified wealth wise, the more in theory an airline like this should work, but let's see.
Ben, seeing as you mentioned Global here, can you do another write-up about them? They’ve been kinda quiet (although I’m sure they’ll claim there’s lots going on behind the scenes). Would be interesting to know their progress with getting investors and the seemingly less important things like AOC and OL.
When will Northern Pacific be ordering their A319/320s for fleet commonality? Where will that capital come from? And will they even be in business 5-10 years from now?
Interesting statement @raylan...I dug a little more and the plan seems more like building castle in sand (pun intended).. investors, surely, would not flinch at this illusionist idea. 2 years and two plane sounds like failed commercial viability of this airline...
Intrigued and a simple google search from 5 months ago highlights multiple cancellation claims not be being honoured.. social media posts seems to have been turned off regularly...and apparently some flights this year end have also been cancelled which must be the peak period of travel.
Sounds like a very deceptive to post hunky dory, while a severely strained business.
once I have 100K passive income I will start to fly this kind of flight which is very comfortable . It is good to have this kind of flight who love to fly with luxury and can afford....
