The Amex Membership Rewards program has just introduced its latest transfer bonus, valid for the next several weeks. However, personally this is an offer that Id recommend steering clear of.
AeroMexico's miles are virtually useless outside of AM's own flights, supposedly you can buy a Delta ticket, but there is never anything available, at least online, and can only be useful to fly a non-stop flight to Mexico city, even Mexico-domestic connections on own AM can be some hard to find.
I just transferred Amex points to Aeromexico for a flight from MEX to LAX. With the transfer bonus, I was able to book two business class seats on their 787 for a total of 45,000 Amex points. Apparently, Aeromexico also applied an additional 20% bonus, so I ended up with another 17,000 miles! I’m not sure if it was a glitch or part of the promotion.
Are you sure this wasn't just the standard transfer ratio? It is higher because Aeromexico points used to be based off of kilometers
Anyways concur with Ben, absolutely only if you have an immediate use in mind. This program actually makes Lifemiles CS & availability look like a joy.
