Viva aerobus is a subsidiary of Viva Air, from Colombia. Do you know if they plan to integrate Colombia too?
I get that VivaAerobus (of Mexico) and Viva Air (of Colombia) have an interline agreement, but it's pretty lazy to have a picture of a Viva Air airplane at the top of this article. That's kind of like the media posting 747 pictures whenever a 737 has a bad day.
The aircraft pictured at the top of the article belongs to the Colombian airline, Viva, not to the Mexican carrier Viva Aerobus which is the article's topic.
Direct service from Vegas to Cancun, PVR and/or Cabo would be amazing. Southwest was close to launching Vegas to Cancun until the pandemic hit, so this will hopefully fill that niche (plus maybe get Southwest to act).
That map makes me excited! I see a line from my home airport in South Bend to finally have its first international flight to Cancun. Our terminal is ready with a Federal Inspection Station.
Has anyone flown Viva Aerobus? I was tempted to many times, but their online reviews are horrifying. Does anyone have first-hand experience?
I have many times, between Tijuana and Mexico City. The horror stories you see about Viva are usually the same you would see with Spirit, exacerbated by the language and culture barrier. I always tell people who are going to fly Viva to buy the $10 priority checking add-on, it's cheap and avoids the crazy lines and gives you a better service. You have to pay for everything, even a reprint of a boarding pass. Once you know what to expect, things are easier to deal with, but knowing Spanish helps a lot. I haven't taken their flights on the US soil so i'm not sure if their US service is in par with what are US customer expectations.

I was concerned about them canceling flights for no reason and leaving you stranded somewhere, things like that...other than that, as you said, I (think I) know what to expect (just like with Spirit, Frontier, Ryanair, EasyJet, etc.), and I am comfortable with Spanish, so maybe, just maybe, I will give them a try!
We just took a flight from PVR to Guadalajara. I found their website easy to navigate and book, great prices, too. Yes, pay the extra for priority boarding/seats. At the airport to check in you go straight to the front of the line. At the gate boarding was quite efficient. It was a 55 min flight; no refreshments.

Tip: once you check in you cannot change/add to your reservation, you must call csrs.
Flew Aerobus once and it wasn’t great. Huge line to check in and no way around it because they weigh your carry-on. The FA’s spent the entire flight in the galley playing cards in the galley.
Will the Allegiant-Viva merger make it any easier getting to Huatulco Mexico from the US? I live in Florida and have to fly Miami to Mexico City then to Huatulco, even if Cancun had direct flights to Huatulco it would be a lot easier because the trip from Miami to Cancun is much shorter than to Mexico City...fingers crossed
