The livery with the orange and white is def giving old Indian Airlines vibes. I like it
I really like this! The livery looks smart, clean, and modern – the image you want to cultivate for a low-cost carrier! I still couldn't say the same about the new Air India livery though... that one looks cheap (which is probably also why it looks better in brighter colours on an lcc)
Logistical question here - am I seeing this wrong or did they get a plane onto a stage. If so, how do you do that?
I believe the event is hold at a hangar, the plane is parked outside the hangar.
It's outdated though. As Hindu-nationalist president Modi has renamed the country 'Bharat', the livery should reflect that.
For the Indian traveler a GOL or Iberia livery doesn’t strike a chord nor would it come to mind as they don’t travel frequently on those airlines. Indian ethos has more uses of colours than from where your compared airlines come from. And for AI it is definitely a great new look as the old livery albeit classic evokes a lazy and bureaucratic legacy when the airline was mismanaged by the government.
Modi is not the President, and the name 'Bharat' is noted as the name of the Republic in Article 1 of the constitution (which was enacted before he was even born). You may not like the guy, but get the facts straight.
This looks awful. But less awful than the recently redesigned livery of Air India.
The livery designed by Government bureaucrats was a lot better and struck a chord with a lot of av geeks than these shabby attempts.
"Indian ethos has more uses of colours than from where your compared airlines come from." WTF does that mean? South Americans and Spaniards don't know their colours? I'd love to learn more about the colour ethos Indians so proudly claim.
The new branding is decent & non offensive but a bit boring. Well, the bigger issue is if Air India is going to start from scratch with their catering service? Including the building. Customers have been known to receive unwanted extras like this person.

These paint jobs do nothing. The reality is that their mainline and express fleets need cabin upgrades. The 77L and 77W and the 788 Tata inherited from GOI are bear bones. I know there is a lot of fanfare among the Indian Diaspora but a majority of the fleets is crapola. Add in the fact a lot of inconsistency in the onboard product it’s a sh!tshow. Imagine you think you’ll be flying a EY or SQ inherited bird but you sit on an old 77W
