I know what you've been thinking -- "why can't I order room service using emojis?!?!" Well, Aloft has been listening, as they've just introduced Aloft TiGi (Text it. Get it.). It launches today at the Aloft Manhattan Downtown - Financial District, though will be expanding to other properties in Asia and Europe.

$25 for a phone charger!? I guess I should be happy any time other guests provide a hotel with extra revenue, so I don't have to - but doesn't every hotel in the world have a drawer (or shoebox) full of chargers at the front desk that are available for the asking? The only time I've seen chargers for sale in a lobby was at a Motel 6 - and I think they were $5.
total rip off of crispin porter + bogusky and dominos' emoji ordering concept. lame.
Why would one pay for razor, toothpaste, toothbrush etc ... ? On most Aloft-comparable properties, all one has to do is ask from the front desk for free?
Aloft = Rip-off?
The strange thing is that a lot of what is on that menu is traditionally free at full-service hotels: a forgotten razor, letting guests borrow a phone charger, etc. Certainly I wouldn't expect to pay for this at, say, a Kimpton.
