Hyatt's promotion was a good one to get 20% back. No resort fee is nice, but this is standard for Hilton and Hyatt awards.

This is great to know. I always wondered if I was getting the same service when using an award night as someone paying.

I wonder if some airlines and/or individuals might be inclined not to provide their *best* service to award redemption seats?

2 weeks ago I flew a SQ F SIN-NRT redemption. The value of the food and booze that one could potentially consume (especially since SQ allows check in 48 hours before departure at Changi/TPR) probably easily surpasses the remuneration (miles) that SQ receives. So theoretically each individual 'F' redemption is a money losing venture.

I'm sure the flight attendants know who in the cabin has paid thousands of dollars, and who hasn't, so ... wouldn't it be human nature for some of them to not provide 100% service levels?

Nice article.

I am trying to use my reward points at www.ihg.com to book reward nights. When I use the option of booking room with 2 Adults the rooms are available at the desired dates. However when I book the same hotel with same date except with 2 Adults & 1 Child (< 10 yrs) the site says no rooms available.
