Quite a name for the cheese-board;
The Farmhouse is a known military training site in Oman, close to the border of Yemen, it has been run by the UK 22nd Regiment since 1971. I have only visited once, and diary products is the last thing on your mind whilst at the "Farmhouse"

I'm guessing the drunks might have been Scandinavian.... I know as one myself that we get drunk a lot more than anybody else and I also know that Scandinavian people love Thailand as well. Dunno (if they really are Scandinavian how they got to Muscat because Oman air if I remember correctly doesn't fly to that region

Was the AVOD on a loop ? I just noticed that you were watcing Spectre and are at the exact same point as someone else watching it, so I presume its looped ?

I am assuming she would have said, our crew speaks the following language as describing Indians as *Hindi*---outside of poetry---is pretty much unheard of. 🙂

How would you compare this product and the new one to BA First? Oman air's old seat certainly looks a lot more spacious and 'first class' than BA's product (not to mention the food which looks far better)

I was in Bangkok at the same time as you, but didn't hear a peep about MERS from Cathay, so maybe it's Mideast carriers that mention the ailment. I'm curious about the announcement that the flight crew included a Hindi. I'd been led to believe that Hindi was a language, not a nationality.

You mentioned wifi being turned off over India. Why is that?

These seats are basically the same ones as Cathay had in their First Class cabins prior to the present incarnation (and which were fitted on their 747, A340 and selected A330 aircraft). From memory CX introduced that iteration of their F seats in about 1999/2000, so that should give you a benchmark of how long they have been around!

So people were drunk on the plane? Haven't you alluded to the fact that you've been drunk on planes many times before? I don't really get your point...

I love that after flying many millions of miles, you still spend time just looking out the window for the fun of it. It's nice to know that being an avgeek never wears off.

Glad to see you went for the "taste of Oman"...even if shish tawook is anything but Omani.

Also, as classy as the meal service is, particularly for business class, the little touches do seem a bit off, besides the plastic spoon, like serving Lurpack butter instead of the butter on it's own.

I think the quality of your airline trip reports stands head and shoulders above what other bloggers post - i like the format / sequencing of your reports and also must say that the quality of the pics is superb. I like your taste in champagnes and in food - now when i see the menus in a report I make my choice as if I was there, and in 90% of the cases you order the same dishes as I would have !!

Who is the "us" and "we"? I thought you were traveling alone for this series of TRs.

Oman Air in flight entertainment isn't looped, it's on demand, although the system on-board A330s is older than on the 787.

Weirdly Oman Air don't offer a chauffeur service in Kuala Lumpur or Singapore, which I find disappointing.

@Paul: they offer Chauffeur Service in SIN now - just booked for October (but still not in KL)

Maybe also good to know: on my last flight MUC-MCT-KUL in April they did the boarding directly from the Lounge (exit opposite of the children's play room)

@Ben: I never flew Korean Air. Would you say the Korean first seat in 777 which you reviewed 2014 (Tokyo - Seoul) is the (almost) same seat? It looks like Oman Air Business in Green 🙂 Best regards from Germany and thank you for all the reviews I really enjoy reading them almost every day.
