For our trip to Greece, we spent our first night at the 60-room Academias Hotel, a Marriott Autograph Collection property, which opened in 2019. My primary motivation in picking this hotel was to be able to review a new property in Athens.

I stayed at both the Academias Hotel and Hotel Grande Bretagne among others in July and August this year (2023). Since I had well over a million points, I decided to do a little Marriott tour of Athens.
I had just been downgraded to Titanium this year and didn't get a suite at Academias. Still the hotel was nice and the staff that helped me were superb. I found breakfast a little unusual with their coffee situation. I liked that no one was at the pool when I went.
Redemption-wise, I felt the Grande Bretagne was significantly better considering points needed were almost the same.
Interesting to note that the $100 credit gets you pretty far at a non-ultra luxury property in Athens (i.e., you got a whole dinner for that, essentially, I assume). Whereas at many properties where you'd get that benefit, it'll get you like 2-3 dishes.
Quite shocking to see the "Please do not throw paper in the toilet" sign in a 5 star / 380€ per night property.
I know it's quite common in older buildings in Greece, I would have expected to find an upgraded pipe system in a property like this.
Other than the gym, this hotel looks great. I like the modern-looking bathroom, and thanks to QSuites, I love Diptyque fragrances.
I think also worth a mention... The train from ATH goes to Syntagma in 37 minutes, so you know, that's an option too.
Will we ever see Lucky and/or Ford order a breakfast that doesn't include avocado on toast, egg white omelette, or shakshuka?
“The hotel is only a few blocks from both Hotel Grande Bretagne and King George, so location-wise, it’s tough to beat this hotel.” Great location because it’s near 2 Marriotts?
Gym and pool aside, a very nice place. Thanks for mentioning the metro option, too. Would be great to see this data point in all reviews, when it's possible.
Great location bexause it's dead center of town, 5 min walk from syntagma square, a start point for most Central places of interest.
Those 2 hotels are dead-center at syntagma, that's why he uses them as a reference point.

Be glad you didn’t get stuck in one of their broom closet size rooms. We had the smallest room we’ve ever had at any hotel when we stayed there. We will not return.
We used points to stay here--big mistake: tiny room right on the main street over the cafe. It was noisy all night. We asked to move to a room on the side street, but got the "we're completely booked" run around, though we saw people checking out every morning. What's worst was their "couldn't care less" attitude. Wouldn't stay here again.
