Plus don't forget that you should be careful not to use your free night certificates if you are booking for 5 nights (or more, I believe) since Marriott obnoxiously applies the certificate against the 5th night that you already get for free!
(And since it's arguably not worth going all the way to the Maldives for less than 5 nights, that might mean it's never a very good idea to use credit card certificates here.)
Regarding hotel deals: with the Amex FHR deal of spend $800 on pre paid reservations, do the taxes count toward $800 spend? Thanks.
@Bgriff, why do you oppose a 6-night stay with two free nights, one from the "fifth night free" and one from a certificate?
@Chuck -- I wasn't sure actually how 6 nights would work but it looks like you're correct. So basically just don't use the free night certificate for a 5-night stay.
@Bgriff, I have done this several times. It works as it should with no loss to the consumer. It requires only separate reservations, which the hotel can manage well enough.
Looks like the deal is gone now... Checked for all of Sept and there is no availability.
@David Pan, the hotel calendar is still showing lots of availability between September and early January, with nights at 30k, 35k, or 40k. You may not be able to string together five consecutive nights at this moment, but presently there are still eight 3-night slots going for 110-120k total. That's still a great bargain (at a good property?) in my book.
I don't think this is a good deal. I usually base it on where I usually redeem my Marriott points. That gives me an approximate dollar to point value. Anything at much worse value I don't redeem there.

I booked yesterday (May 5th) for November. Just wondering, having never been to the Maldives, does one spend the night before their return flight back home in Male? Or have folks gone straight from the resort to the airport? Also, any word if the resort will be offering Covid tests? Won't that be needed to get back home/or to take an international flight these days?

No more overwaters for 2021 that I can find. Just on the beach, which I'll wait for, thanks. I have to use a 7 night vacay package and was trying to use it here, but no luck. While I'm sure the water is lovely, etc. etc., there are a million ocean front rooms I can get on points in the world. To most of us, the whole point of getting all the way to the Maldives is the OWB. I was waiting to be sure my vacay certs were extended beyond 8/1. Too late. : (
