Review: Lufthansa Business Class A319 (FRA-MUC)
After an amazing time in Germany with my parents, it was time to start the journey back home. While we all flew back on the same transatlantic flight (in Lufthansas A380 first class from Munich to Boston), I made a little detour on our return trip, starting with flying Lufthansas A319 business class from Frankfurt…

A few observations:
- It‘s quite unusual to have a Lufthansa flight between FRA and MUC with such a comparatively small Business Class, and then flying half empty - you could really tell it‘s August … I‘ve very often seen half of the plane being turned onto BC on that route.
- Usually, LH boards its planes very fast, especially at their hubs. Definitely way faster than anything I‘ve experienced in the US so far …
- In MUC, the FRA flights are usually assigned the „best“ gates, i.e. closest to security and to baggage claim (G20-30, even gate numbers). I hope your flight was no exception.
And to add to my previous post:
You don‘t very often see an A319 being deployed between the two cities - it‘s usually a very A321-heavy route. I miss the good old days of A300 flights every hour on FRA-MUC-FRA flights. On Monday morning, routinely everyone on that fully-booked 270-seat plane was seated with their seat belts on within 10 minutes from start of boarding …
Lufthansa help themselves a ton by using those self serve boarding gates. They are also quite good at enforcing zones
I personally liked the apple as something healthy since I otherwise tend to consume unhealthy Alkohol and comfort food when flying. Though I realize that these were rarely taken by other passengers. I also often got them offered in economy as well.
Because it gives you an outlet for your unprocessed anger at the world. Hey, it's cheaper than therapy, right?
Dude, everyone has the right to post whatever they want on their blog. If you don't like reviews like this one, just don't read them. I assure you, Europeans do appreciate them a lot.
Wow, thank you for spotlighting this excellent product! I can’t wait to fly Lufthansa’s awesome intra-Europe business class. It looks so private and exclusive.
I'm not sure what you'd be expecting on a 30 minute flight, but, I think it was perfectly fine, why pay an upgraded tix?, lastly was the review needed?
I will never understand why one would pay extra money to fly in the very same economy seats with the very same pitch. To each his own I guess, but to me business class is all about the seat and space.
Most passengers are usually connecting and the pitch is larger in the rows in the forward section.
Lufty is known for its thinly padded (lower weight) economy seats and they’re even thinner in newer aircraft.
Printed menus are on their way out as more and more planes, at least, longer haul, have seatback screens and, some onboard ordering so a menu for a particular flight can be loaded with the flight tracking info, etc.
After a long business day trip to Europe, priority check-in and boarding, lounge access with drinks and snacks and another drink and light meal before the motorway drive home is well worth it. Also more space with extra legroom and the empty middle seat. Each to their own.
I flew on a 26-year-old A319-100 as well. The registration was
D-AILN. Flew economy. Received the same chocolate in the yellow wrapper.
