Great review (very useful). To me, it's similar to a Hilton Garden Inn. In some ways, almost but not quite as good. In some way, particularly the balcony, better.
How about points?
Do they have slippers? If so, that would be an area better than Hilton Garden Inn.
Small suggestion: Midtown *East* is quiet on the weekends. Midtown *West* (west of 6th/7th Avenue) stays lively throughout the week.
Have you ever thought about how dirty books must be? If you're worried about stuff on airplanes and in hotels never getting cleaned, think about how books pretty much NEVER get cleaned.
Great review. Wow that's cheap for what you get, especially including taxes and fees. $120 a day! Some places in midtown will probably start charging that just for their "resort" fee soon. 😉

Thanks for the handy review. One nitpick, though: what self-respecting east-coaster flies into JFK of all places when you could take the train? Cheaper, and you spend the same amount of time in transit given what a hassle it is to get to Manhattan from JFK.
Those amenity fees are something that needs to be addressed...
like ALL costs of doing business, unless it's something that I can opt out of, it should go into the price. (E.g. at least airline baggage fees don't apply to me, if I don't check bags).
Resort fees have been around for a while, but took off in vegas some years ago and now NY is learning. What bothers me most is that even luxury properties (St. Regis in NY) charge $50 extra when the room is already pushing $1000.
