I bought a chinese set of macro-wideangle-fisheye lenses for 2€ on Geek some months ago just to try them. Usually i'm not a fan of cheap chinese products (i HATE them), but this time i think the one i bought are good enough and the results are pretty similar. Let's not forget we are not talking about real lenses for a reflex, but just something you clip to your phone outside the camera. 80$ is really too much.
While "normal" lenses make taking some kinds of photos difficult as you said, I really hate the horrible distortion that those fisheye lenses produce.
You might be able to get purchase protection on your cc to cover the cost of buying the second one

It has some bad reviews on Amazon complaining that it can scratch the phone. What is your experience?
Bummer, I know that exact feeling of regret even after getting the new one. But that brings me to a question, staying in hotels as much as you do, do you have any experience with leaving things behind and getting in touch with the hotel and getting them back? Or are things left behind usually good as gone?

Hey Lucky, you should have a look at 'moment lense' - gets the wide shot without the fisheye warp around the edges. Pricier but amazing
Um, while it's fine for Instagram pictures, I damn hope that you're not using that fisheye lens for your trip reports. I take my TR photos with my iPhone, and anything with a special effect seems to ruin it.
Lucky, your regular photos are always so awesome I hope you aren't going to use this new lens for your reports. OK for Oyster, but you're better than Oyster.
Moment ( http://momentlens.co/shop/) makes incredibly high quality lenses for iPhone and Android (though they certainly seem to favour Apple products by not updating the mounting plates for Android) but they do cost a lot more. They even do a case for the iPhones now, which actually mimics a proper camera, down to a dedicated shutter button. I was an early supporter of their on Kickstarter, and really enjoyed using the lenses on my Samsung Galaxy S4. The lenses themselves were beautifully crafted and the optics quality is are so far above anything else. Easily beats Olloclip and other brands.
That's funny, I was looking at the Olloclips at my Applestore and wanted to try one on, but found out that it didn't fit over the apple phonecase. Days later I went to look at the Olloclip Website and learned that they offer phone cases that will fit the lenses. I ordered lenses and learned that the case was included as a Xmas offer. And just this morning the package arrived....
Just for fun, point the phone with fisheye lens at yourself, a friend or a pet. Hold about 3 inches (5 cm) from the end of the nose. Gives a humorous perspective.
