United & JetBlue Reciprocal Revenue Flight Bookings: Big Upside For JetBlue?
In May 2025, United and JetBlue announced plans to roll out a partnership, which is being marketed as Blue Sky. Its a quirky collaboration that seems odd on the surface.

0 PQF & 0 PQP make this a hard pass. Can't imagine why they thought any United flyer would find this compelling.
Was interesting to see that you can use UA future value credits to buy the JetBlue flights tho. Wouldn't have expected that.
Someone a lot smarter than me needs to help me understand how this isn’t a borderline joint venture
Because they aren't coordinating on fares and routes. This is a weaker version of the AS/AA partnership where there is reciprocal earning, benefits, and the ability to book each other's flights on the other airline's site.
It’s a matter of time when UA buys B6.
This is just a dance to make it appear it’s a partnership.
I expect by end of 2026. UA will purchase B6 out right.
Ben,
Did you ask:
1) Are these purchased issued on 016 (UA) tickets (vs. B6 ones)?
2) Can these flights be purchased with United "flight" credits or other United form of payment?
3) If cancelling a flight, do you end up with a residual credit on UA (016) (vs. B6 aka 279)?
If the answer to all three question is YES, then the benefits for a UA flier are VERY real. Otherwise, meh.
I'm with @Isaac. JetBlue is basically becoming a vassal as an intermediate step to being absorbed by United. That's incredibly unfortunate because NYC will effectively become a duopoly for flights and prices will drastically increase as a result.
Isn't this what you can do with AA flights via AlaskaAir.com and vice versa from AA.com?
Will we get PQFs and PQPs with this update? Haven’t seen anything about that
For JetBlue flyers, this has been as a very bad deal. Management is not even interested in being an actual real airline anymore. JB just needs to hurry up and die…
However, United should not be allowed to acquire JB. They would own BOS and NYC/NJ, and be biggest dog in control of DC and Florida markets.
Used a reasonable amount of UA points for B6 Mint TATL and was very pleased to be able to do so. I miss the AA-B6 NEA because at least they included lounge access at AdmiralsClubs. UA and B6 really should have included that. Would’ve been a major benefit to B6 flyers with UnitedClub membership.
What I find most remarkable about this is that Marty St. George is someone's real name.
It could become interesting if and when flights get PQP and PQF, perhaps concurrent with reciprocity for elite benefits. That said, the only advantage I see myself considering is being able to fly DEN-JFK to connect to a *A partner like SQ or something.
When I try to use points on the United site for JB flights they don’t show up in the search, any thoughts?
Good question. I've also been unable to find JB award flights on the UA site.
Let me get this straight... you want JetBlue to "hurry up and die" yet oppose a merger with United?
Your logic is baffling. Such a merger would simply elevate United to a similar domestic market share as Delta/American (united currently lags behind both).
What wise plan do you offer with regards to the 4500 pilots and 300 aircraft at JetBlue if it does indeed take your helpful suggestion to "hurry up and die?"
