Major changes are coming to Delta SkyMiles, and a lot of customers are understandably miffed. A couple of days ago, Alaska Mileage Plan launched a very generous status match for Delta SkyMiles elites (targeted primarily at flyers on the west coast), and now JetBlue TrueBlue has also launched an offer, which is unbelievably generous (presumably…

Applied! Maybe you could help us with some work on how much these various status levels are worth, and maybe some ins and outs on these levels? In terms of the Mint certificates - can you simply book any flight with Mint availability and confirm an upgrade?

@ Anthony -- Congrats on applying! More details about all the Mosaic perks, as well as how the upgrades work, can be found here:
https://onemileatatime.com/guides/jetblue-trueblue-mosaic-status/

I'll work on refreshing/republishing the post in the near future, to reflect anything that may not be covered. Thanks for the idea.

So a Jetblue Mint upgrade certificate is applied to a reservation to be added to the space available upgrade wait list. In other words be prepared to fly in your extra legroom seat?

Says that mint upgrades will be cleared at 24 hours. Not a crazy good deal. Hmm

@ Mitchell Ivers -- It's totally fine if you're a member, that doesn't disqualify you from taking advantage of this.

@ Daniel Minsk -- That's correct. But it should be pretty easy to tell what your odds are of the upgrade clearing, since it's not like all elites have unlimited upgrades. Then again, with the number of new Mint upgrade certificates being issued...

Gotta love competition. When there's real competition, a dumb move by one companies means everyone else pouncing.

Just applied as well! Did you happen to get an email confirmation from JetBlue once you filled out the form?

So how does their Mosaic lève / TrueBlue work? If I get matched to Mosaic 4 and fly Qatar or Singapore, does that status allow me to access lounges? Any other elite perks across their partners?

@ ZTravel -- Unfortunately JetBlue status offers no reciprocal perks on other airlines anymore.

Ben, what happens if you currently have Platinum status until January 2024 and Silver or Gold for the 2024 year? Would you get matched to Mosaic 3 or the lower status? Is it possible to have jetBlue clarify? Thank you!!!

@ ny110010001 -- You'd be matched to Mosaic 3, as it's based on your current status. 🙂

Thanks Ben! Sucks to be a Silver in 2023 and flew enough to be Diamond for 2024 then, haha.

If you have flown enough to qualify for Diamond through 2024, you would be a Diamond right now too.

What if we already have a Jetblue card? Do we need to get a new card to qualify for the extension through 2024?

hi JB, it was a joke... a very rare situation where you didn't meet higher qualification until later in the year. Probably unlikely in a real life situation.

Ben- What if you already are a Jetblue Credit Card Holder? Do we then automatically get status though 2024 or only new Credit Card applicants after status match get 2024 status via holding the Credit Card?

Thanks

Ignore my comment above. To get status into 2024 would have to earn the necessary tiles.

Do we have to use the mint upgrades by end of the year?

My level of schadenfreude at Delta's expense is sky high, and I don't even have a dog in this fight.

It's nice to see that when one company really steps in it, other companies (Alaska, and now Jet Blue, and that's just as of now...) are willing to step in and capitalize on it.

Sorry, Delta, but you sort of screwed the pooch on this one.

New and existing cardholders qualify as long as you have the card open through 12/30 and are one of the first 30,000 to complete the form

@ bill -- The terms simply state that you need to have a card by December 30, 2023, so I imagine being an existing cardholder should be fine.

As a DL flyer, I love that AS, AA, B6 are smelling blood in the water.
I hope they are successful in poaching customers.

Hi Ben,
on the rules it appears this:
24. If approved, newly granted status will appear in participant’s Member Portal by 11/6/2023.
Does that mean that if you apply now we got to wait until Nov 6th? if so this is not as great. that is almost a full month and a half wasted. I would assume that they will start processing earlier. Any chance you could get some info with any of your contacts?

I would assume that this is the standard loyalty program/credit card disclaimer of "6-8 weeks for benefits to post." They do this to discourage applicants from calling or otherwise escalating, not because there is any circumstance in which the benefit will post at the end of the 6-8 week period without further intervention on your part. Assume that it should post within 2-3 weeks absolute tops, and if not, you should reach out to support to push it through manually.

This is just standard legal lingo. Since there is LITERALLY nothing to lose, If I was You I would have already applied before I even wasted my time writing this comment.

Agreed Digital Nomad, he should have just applied and seen for himself if it took X amount of time. Just legal mumbo jumbo in the terms. NO WAY does JetBlue make elites spend 6-8 waiting to leave the airline they are willing to break-up with. Ever.

For now. Until February 28th I believe. The code sharing and coordination part of the NEA has already stopped. But the reciprocal benefits aspects is still through sometime in March.

this is the important question. if we don't want to get the card, it would be very difficult to spend enough on jetblue flights between nov 6 and dec 30 to re-qualify! and not much time to use benefits and mint upgrades. or will they extend the period to 3 months from qualification or something?

He'll tell you it doesn't matter and that Delta is still the best because their latest financial statements show them in a stronger position than jetBlue and others, and as you know, past performance is always a guarantee of future success.

It's only for existing tickets that already have a B6 FQTV on the ticket. Cannot be added to new tickets.

I’m currently Gold on DL but only 2700 MQMs from Platinum. Will they see that and match me as Platinum or should I wait? It seems waiting it silly.

My husband and I both applied as soon as we read your email. He is Delta silver and I am Delta gold. He received his match a few days ago but I have not heard anything. Does anyone know if they are processing Delta silver faster than Delta gold or other levels?

I just received my Delta Platinum status match to Mosaic 3 yesterday. Being SEA based B6 is of relatively limited utility to me outside of the option to use the four mint priority upgrades transcon to JFK. Unfortunately my travel schedule is relatively set until the end of the year so I was thinking that perhaps the Mint upgrades, which state an expiration of 12/31/23, might be extended along with my status if I picked up one of the Jet Blue credit cards.

As it happens however the Jet Blue cards are Barclaycards. Approximately five years ago I opened a Barclays Arrival+ card in order to obtain the spending bonus and get a card with chip and pin functionality for an upcoming European trip. I immediately put the required spend on the card and received the bonus but before the first statement period had even ended I received notice from Barclays that due to a change in my credit profile the line of credit was immediately revoked. Upon investigation I was informed that they had seen a large increase in my total credit debt, basically a statement period ended on a personal card that I had used for $35k in business expenses which I then paid off in full prior to the due date, and as such they had deemed me a credit risk.

While this revocation of extended credit without good cause or any delinquency on my part was frustrating I moved on and paid it no mind until earlier this year when I sought to get a sign up bonus on the Barclays Aviator Red card. This application went pending so I called to see what was up. As it turns out that years old unilateral revocation of credit has placed me on the Barclays "Blacklist" where they immediately deny applications for cards without even checking your credit score, history, etc. due to a purported delinquency with them. I have since attempted to get anyone with Barclays to examine my specific situation to no avail. All they can say is that have an internal delinquency that keeps them from checking my credit (830) and that I can choose to apply again and see what happens.

Has anyone ever had success getting off the Barclays Blacklist? Does anyone know if extending my matched Mosaic status until the end of 2024 by getting one of the Jet Blue cards will actually extend the expiration on the 4 Mint priority upgrades? Finally does anyone know if getting an authorized user Jet Blue card, assuming I even would be allowed this, would trigger the status match extension?

DP: Current DL Diamond, Platinum for 2024. Applied for the match the day it went live. Got approved for Mosaic 4 on 10/4/2023 – 6 mint certs, 4 blade helicopter rides and 20k trueblue miles already in my account, plus got a congratulatory call from the Mosaic line.

I noticed my 6 mint certificates (and other perks) expire at the end of Dec 2023, so I called the mosaic line to ask if they would be extended should I successfully complete the status challenge. The agent I spoke with says they won’t be extended but if I complete the status challenge and start 2024 off as Mosaic 4, I get another 6 mint certificates (and all the other Mosaic 4 perks) at the start of the year. If this is correct, this is so much better than I thought!
