In September 2024, JetBlue announced plans to start opening airport lounges, at its two biggest hubs. This came after years of rumors, given that this was a weak point of the premium JetBlue experience. I haven’t covered this in over a year, so there’s an update I’d like to provide — JetBlue executives have today…

Interested to discuss: how polished/premium do you expect the lounges to be, given that Jetblue has had no experience in running lounges before? Or can they quickly hire an experienced team to get it off to an expert start already? I imagine there are companies now who are experienced in designing and helping to launch premium feeling top class lounges?

All the lounges are contracted to firms that run lounges as their primary business. For example, all of the lounges on all airlines at SFO are run by the same contract firm.

Probably didn't include lounge access for domestic Mint as there would only be a lounge on one end of each journey since none are located on the west coast.

Along those lines, wonder if they will start to research lounge access at LHR/AMS/CDG etc via a partnership

Yeah, but you still have to fly into LGW.

Just 8k square feet at JFK sounds a bit small.
I guess the United folks at JFK won't get access via the "Blue Sky" FF program.

Next on the radar would be FLL or SJU.

At least TrueBlue becomes more valuable.

To step up to legacy status and to enhance their self-perceived customer reputation, B6 is headed in the right direction, yet is still under-shooting. 8K at JFK is way too small; they need at least 15K both there and at BOS. Domestic Mint admittance should be permitted without question. Even with a slightly diminished footprint at SFO and LAX, they need a club at both west coast airport, so that a club is available at both ends of a Mint transcon journey. Lastly, add a lounge at FLL.

FLL has the decent Amex Escapes in T3 where B6 is; SJU has these lame Priority Pass lounges, so it really, really needs something better there.

Wha? Why can't you fly into LHR?

AMS is a total Schipol… (sounds like s-hole.)

I kid. I’m a huge fan of that airport. And of KLM. Especially those Delft Blue houses.

They also had no experience with business class when mint started. And I still prefer mint over the other 3. Lounge or no lounge.

I’ve take B6 on JFK-LHR and it was excellent. Hobbs doesn’t know what’s up.

Bob gets it. Totally agree. Gimme a Mint Condition (gin) over any PDB at US3.

Agree with Ben - not allowing TransCon Mint into the lounge is a huge misstep. Competitors do.

I can't imagine overcrowding from the Transcon crowd - Blue has reduced their West Coast footprint tremendously. Most of the LAX/SFO transcons depart before their European flights anyway.

While Lee is correct most of the part. Those people are more operators. The design and oversight concept on amenities and offering are led by airline.

So to Eric's question, I'd expect the lounge to be functioning. Consider the Mint team, the lounge should be polished. Consider B6 financials, you probably get solid but nothing wow amenities or food.

My guess would be something similar to SkyClub or Centurion but not as good as Polaris or DeltaOne.

No? BOS-LGW is only summer seasonal. BOS-LHR (1X daily) and JFK-LHR (2x daily) are year round.
