Love SLH and the partnership with Hyatt. So far, I've stayed at El Convento in Antigua, Guatemala and Urso Hotel & Spa in Madrid. They were both fantastic. Wish SLH the best.

Is it just me or should a non-transferable card be called something other than a gift card?

Agree, this is a great partnership with Hyatt. Stayed at the Viceroy in Bali last year on points (30k a night). Got an upgraded room, I think due to Explorist status. Arranged transportation and tours through the hotel. Had a great time.

What credit card would be best for spend on these? Would the hyatt card earn bonus points?

This information is not true and misleading. I am currently in SLH book through Hyatt. They are not accepted gift card when book with Hyatt, only through SLH.
Also if you book through SLH , you loose all Hyatt globalist benefits and not even getting tier night.
This is a loose loose condition. By the discount rate, it doesn’t worth loose hyatt points, tier nights and breakfast.

That's a data point I was interested in -- to clarify, so at the front desk of the hotel, a non-prepaid stay, they did not accept the gift card?
