stayed here a few different times last year. the first time the property was still undergoing heavy renovations and seemed like a total mess. check in lines were stupid long. rooms aren't anything special even after the renovation but they are quite big. not the most convenient location since its off strip but it is walkable (at least for me) to the strip. overall didn't have a great first impression of the property.
didnt think i would want to stay here again after that experience but i did due to the cheaper rates that particular weekend compared with other and also mainly to accumulate nights. a decent majority of the renovations have been completed and it was looking a lot better. there's also a VIP check in for Hyatt status members which i didn't know about until after i checked in which i'll take advantage of next time. there wasn't any signage for it but basically its the opposite direction of where the regular check in is.
honestly main reason for staying here is the cheap rate especially with globalist and to easily accumulate nights toward status. i will prob stay again just to accumulate nights. also they seem to continually change the breakfast benefit for Globalist.
Have they announced how much money they'll be ripping off customers per night with useless destination fees for crap nobody wants?
The Hyatt Destination website does not list Rio as part of their portfolio yet.
Seems they need to communicate/plan better these marketing roll outs.
Had a walk there from the strip a few months back, obviously a lot of building work going on hence the good(ish) rates, there was talk of a “sky bridge” concept connecting the hotel directly to the strip which would make it more appealing.
I have stayed at Rio in a renovated room and I have stayed at Destination properties. The Destination brand doesn't fit. The rooms feel like Hyatt Place rooms.
Is this still supposed to become a Hyatt Regency because the photo of the room looks extremely low-end.
