Hyatt has just announced that effective immediately they'll be offering exclusive discounts of up to 10% for Hyatt Gold members who make bookings through hyatt.com, the Hyatt mobile app, or through Hyatt's call center. FWIW, just found a four night stay where the Member Discount rate was about $5 lower per night than AAA and advance purchase rates.

Australia

And since it is managed inventory it is possible that member discount could be available when AAA isn't

One big yawn
I book almost everything Hyatt through 3rd party sites and my 4th night free through Citi Prestige.Typically travel agents that will give me some part of their commission or rebate back
Hyatt is two faced with their best price guarantee and proven they can't be trusted to be fair just dishonest.I did trust them back when
Are they trying to be like the airlines?
Somebody remind them it's a slippery slope when you break trust
The Member elite rate had me booking more but of course if it's popular and members like it be sure to come up with something worse
This will not likely make me book on Hyatt.com

At least its something. I'll take a discount over no discount. I wonder though if this will make it harder to get a best rate guarantee. Suppose you book a standard room, not a member rate, and find a competitor that has a standard room cheaper will they match if there is a member rate for cheaper?

Are the member only rates that they (and the others) offer bookable through Citi Prestige? Do you have to specifically request it?

The Member Rate I booked for the Hyatt Place I am currently sitting in was a whole 100 cents cheaper then the AAA rate!

So don't write it off just yet 😛

Here's what infuriates me: you can't use an award night or points to book a "member discount" rate room. Such a scam.
