When I was growing up,my Dad would tell me about how when guys are fishing from shore, they would always try to cast to the center of the pond. But when they are fishing from a boat, they would try to cast as far back to the edge of the pondas they could.

When I sign up for the diamond challenge I have 60 days to complete 12 nights and I'll have diamond status. What happens if the 12 nights starts on Dec 31 and goes until January 11, does the new year reset the counter and that means I technically only had an "11 night stay" for that year and thus I have to stay an extra night?

@Brandon, Hyatt diamond challenge (as well as any other status challenges) is not bound by calendar dates. It is just 60 days from start of your challenge. If you comoplete your challenge now, you'll have Hyatt Diamond status until 2/2017.. but if you start in November 5 so that your 60 days ends January 5, 2016... you'll still be a Diamond until 2/2017. Earlier you complete it.. longer you'll have the status.

Dan -- I'm assuming you are referring to the Sheraton Free Weekends promo. I actually haven't thought that much about it because I'm not sure I'd have a great use for the Sheraton free nights by the end of the year.

I'm also not sure that it is mattress run worthy, unless you KNOW that you have a high value redemption in mind for the free nights. Then you also need to have some cheap Sheratons available to pick up the qualifying nights. IF those are true, I would say that if you book Friday night, and your partner (do you have one?) books Saturday night, and you did that for 5 weekends, you'd each get a free night out of the deal. So yeah, you should probably value those 5 weekend getaways -- in addition to valuing the free nights and the points earned -- to make this worthwhile.

That's my 2-minute answer without thinking that much about it.
