Hyatt Centric Montreal is a recent addition to the exclusion list. Some hotels also will upgrade to a better suite at their own discretion (HR Hakone and Fuji Speedway).

Completely agree with you on the generosity of Hyatt’s suite upgrade program. Add to this the additional perks provided as Courtesy Card members and we never wind up in a standard room. However, as that program has evolved, we have slightly adjusted our strategy. We have a close personal relationship with many properties and thus its business as usual there. At other properties like Thompson or ones with fewer suites, we often confirm the upgrade at booking in case they sell out. More than likely, we will receive an additional upgrade prior to check in but not always. As you pointed out several times, we have way more suite upgrades in a year than we ever would use, even with gifting. We have enjoyed so many amazing suites through the years but as you mentioned, even a standard suite is a nice perk! Cheers!

I hoarded mine until now. I was waiting at least until I had 3 nights booked. I have suites lined up for 3,4,5, and 5 nights lined up in the next 2 months. Looking forward to it.

Also, I'm not sure if this was a coincidence or not, but the 2 stays booked with cash I got a double upgrade at booking and the 2 paid with points I did not.

Many hotels advertise their “standard suites,” but they almost never make them available—meaning you can’t actually use your suite upgrade. It ends up making the reward feel like a complete scam.

Love being Globalist for the past few years, BUT, please do something about Hyatt association with Mr & Mrs Gargbage. I bought a few thousand Dollars worth of Gift Cards a couple of years ago, They are pretty much worthless. The Hotels basically do not offer any Benefits at all. Why stay there!

I have had a great experience in best of hotel suite upgrades using Guest of Honor awards from my friend who has 27 credit cards and is always traveling for pleasure. I think, remarkably, he also gets bonuses when I use them. Love the Hyatt program over all others.

Hyatt is such a fantastic program. If only their footprint wasn't so miserable (but I guess that's why they have to compensate through a loyalty scheme in the first place). I have 90+ nights at Hilton and 70+ at IHG but I still don't see a way to make Globalist even if I was willing to give up both Hilton/IHG top-tier status (which I would be for Globalist).

What I hate about this collab is that they're incredibly hard to filter out. When I try to search for Hyatt hotels, I'm spammed with bunch of this crap I have no interest in with no easy way to turn it off (you need to manually select all other brands, which takes ages, and do it again and again at each new search).

They really should allow more perks at Mr. and Mrs. Smith properties. I avoid those because they dont give you any benefits at all for your loyalty. Its a shame because they have some super properties but noting for globalists.

They are really testing us to see what they can get away with. First Grand Cayman goes from cat 6 to 8 with no notice, and now this. Never thought I'd see a massive property on the exclusion list but here we are...more to come I bet

First, Hyatt should list ineligible properties ALPHABETICALLY. Second, in the same way that property owners have been allowed to "manage" award inventory or the way Marriott excludes virtually all luxury properties from certain elite benefits, I see Hyatt continuing to expand the suite upgrade exclusion list. Before or after fully dynamic pricing, I couldn't tell you.

It's not that they don't give you benefits, it's just Mr&Mrs don't have to give you benefits. I received breakfast and/or an elevated room at check in a couple of times, though they're not required to do so. I have 3 Mr&Mrs booked for Georgia, the country, coming up. There aren't any regular Hyatts there and I need the qualifying nights. Fingers crossed for some recognition.

When you're able to use these, you can get some crazy value.

I have a stay in Nice (France) coming up at the Palais Mediterranee (formerly the Hyatt Regency Palais de la Méditerranée). 4 nights, 35k per night total, so 140k total points.

Originally, this was going to be in one of their base rooms, which were going for about $1k per night (so, a conceptual $4k total price if I had paid cash). I used a Suite Upgrade award that a friend gifted to me, and now it's in an Executive Suite that would normally be going for ~$2.5k per night (so a conceptual $10k total price if I had paid cash). So the suite upgrade award got me something that would have cost me an incremental +$6k if I had paid cash. Kind of nuts.

I think they are worthless as I never find hotels opening availability. All of mine expire and provide no value!
