Cool: Hyatt Opening Hello Kitty Hotel In China

But, come on, I'd like Hyatt to be a bit more creative than that. A bit too obvious jump on the 'kawaii' train

Disney posts at LALF. Hello Kitty posts at OMAAT. Both on the same day. Now I sort of understand why Boris Johnson went on a rant about the wonders of Peppa Pig Theme park. The demographic of voters and readers across the world must be skewing to the intellect of a 9 year old.

Personally, I'm much more interested in the Warner Brothers Curio/Hilton hotel in Abu Dhabi. Too bad they don't have one in the States, or I'd visit it much sooner. Would be even better if WB partnered with Hyatt on a State-side one, but oh well.

Will be interesting to see how much business the Hello Kitty hotel draws.

You probably don't have kids.

It's the intellect of the 9 year old that forces parents to spend absurd amount of money on things such as theme parks and toys.

Now I believe one thing, if we let 9 year old kids vote, we probably get people who are better than Biden or Trump.

I do have a daughter, now 13. I take her to exotic locations around the world, this since she was small. When budget or time has been a concern I have opted for trips to Idaho or Montana (as an example) and camping, skiing, or multi-day river trips. See, not so hard.

Those are real experiences and in the end less money than feeding our kids with this garbage. Especially when a world of real and fantastic awaits. No wonder we are so messed up when a grown man who is a travel blogger thinks a theme park and hotel about a cartoon kitty is, "cool."

I think that this would have been an OK post minus your opinion that is unrelated. Your opinion about the Chinese border was unnecessary and shows your political views. It has nothing to do with the post and is not based on first hand experience. You only base it on travel blogs, Western news, and other Western social media. There has been many important developments and indications by key people to the possibility of the restrictions becoming more relaxed soon. Further, as this this the case I do think you should consider featuring blogs about hotels and airlines in China with people based in China. Many Chinese and expats in China would follow your blog for related information and there are many local airlines you never talked about. It could be interesting.

Regarding the content, actually I think it depends on how "overboard" the theme is. Disney Hotel or Toy Story Hotel is not very overboard because some things you can see with the shapes and colors, but EVA Air with Hello Kitty, that's "overboard" with everything branded with it. Furthermore, your article lack many missing details, for example, you do not say where in Hainan it will be and when some of the parts of the project will open.

You are doing nothing to improve the view of an outsider to want to visit China.
I'd say "Duc de Paris" does put a dent for @Lucky to experience China.
His concern is the travel restrictions. You say it will be relaxed. Most travelers don't care about relaxed but will wait until it becomes open and stays open. The emphasis on staying open.

Oh and this is a "Western" blog, selling "Western" credit cards, and "Western" travel lifestyle. I don't think Chinese or expats in China will find this blog overly useful.
I do think @Lucky will visit mainland China much sooner than the next decade. Too much to offer, he can't resist.

Would I personally seek out a Hello Kitty Hotel? Probably not, because it's not my cup of tea.

I do, however, know people who love Hello Kitty and I will remember this OMAAT post so I can pass along this news to them.

I don't think we have to be either/or when it comes to vacation destinations. It can be both/and. Has my daughter gotten to go on vacations to places like London and Paris, as well as domestic destinations ranging from Alaska to New Mexico, and including some national parks like Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon? Yes.

Has she also been to a Star Trek convention in Las Vegas to indulge in her favorite pop culture fandom with people from around the world, many of them dressed in Star Trek costumes? Yes! (She is a Klingon at these events.)

I don't think participating in such an event downgrades her intellect. I think all kinds of travel can stimulate the imagination! She's now a sophomore in college. This summer, she hopes to take a deeper dive and study abroad at a summer Arabic intensive in Amman, Jordan. I'm proud of her.

I hope everyone will pursue their joy and get the opportunity to visit at least some of the destinations they want to visit in 2022...safely, of course!

What are you talking about? He did not get into politics. He simply speculated that China's current COVID rules would not be eased any time soon by as much as 2025, which in my opinion is pessimistic and I disagree. However, he did not either criticize or defend the rules.
