My understanding is rwanda has had an amazing economic boom the last ten years or so.
If they're adding NYC to their current network this is a pipe dream. If they're planning on expanding to the rest of Africa and Middle East this could fit quite nicely.

Not going top happen. Wish it could though. CEO Mirenge seems like a cool cat.
A 787-8 would be cheaper and easier to fill than an A350. Either way I can't imagine that route could be profitable. It would seem like a London flight would be a more logical next step for the airline.
RwandAir already has a technical partnership with Ethiopian. Their Chairman is the former CEO of Ethiopian (Girma Wake). Commercially the partnership is still a bit loose, but that will grow in due course as well. Right now they are trying to make a big publicity splash with the introduction of the new A330, so you'll see all sorts of silly comments about future plans for the next few months.
There's no direct flights to east Africa from the US. I usually have to fly Delta to Amsterdam and then KLM to east Africa. It usually takes 20 to 24 hours with the stop over.
It's only a 50 minute flight from Rwanda to Kenya or Tanzania. I think they could easily sell out these flights.
