Review: Emirates A380 First Class Dubai To Manchester
While I was looking forward to enjoying a daytime flight from Dubai to Manchester, we unfortunately didn’t board in the most well rested state to fully enjoy the flight. As explained in a previous installment, due to jetlag we woke up in the middle of the night, and decided to just head to the airport.…

Hi Lucky,
Unrelated to the review... your page is again throwing up malware. One of your advertisers again tried to take control of my browser this morning. "Your computer is infected, please call system support..." blah blah blah.
I thought Boarding Area IT had taken care of this problem?
I captured a screen shot of one of the dialogue boxes that popped up. Is there an email I can send it to so you guys know what is going on?
I love the blog and have been a loyal reader for years, but this is so terribly annoying! Really leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Please tell the IT folks at Boarding Area to get this fixed!!!
Thanks,
Matt
@Matt Yeah Adblockplus. Lots of sites that depend on advertisements don't want you to use them, but still better than all these pop-ups amd ads.
I experienced the same issue as Matt. I'm sticking with my phone to look at the site now.
I see from the photos they served warm nuts shortly after departure but I dont suppose that stopped you from grabbing a handful from Ali or whomever was working the bar?
MAN, the "small regional airport" with almost 22 million passengers a year.
"I was amused that the label specifically said 'Exclusively Selected For Emirates.'"
I think that is for loss prevention, to stop some EK employee from selling it to a liqueur store.
Lucky, Lufthansa doesn't serve their caviar in the tin either -- they just put as much on your plate as you want (and i have been offered seconds!). Not that I have to tell you this, as you've flown Lufthansa First more than anyone! I've only had the pleasure twice.
what is the best way now to book Emirates, is it still via Alaska miles? the signup bonuses for the alaska credit card that I see seem frightfully low...
@Joe " $4200 round trip to fly Emirates first class. At that price point, isn’t it better to just wait for the occasional Emirates sale."
I looked up the price of Lucky's itinerary on Emirates.com. It would be US$31,000 one way, LAX to MAN. I think maybe you're missing a decimal point in the prices you're comparing.
I love Adblockplus. It has definitely made things much easier.
@Owen I wonder if Joe was just checking the DXB-MAN price?
Yes any flight ex-US is priced in stupid money, but that's not telling the whole story:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/premium-fare-deals/1703099-ek-nbo-dxb-hkg-bkk-dxb-nbo-2700-f.html
If you don't have to fly ex USA, paid fares can sometimes equal the cost you paid in miles.
I understand the "value maximizing" crowd, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. Paying $4400 to "save $10,000" is trying to justify you throwing away $3000 so you can experience a shower and better food.
FYI: Round trip is around $11,000 cash from Dubai to Los Angeles RT, so I don't know how you are getting a $30,000 OW figure. Its all imaginary savings at that point anyways.
Round trip from dubai to Los Angeles is $11000. So I don't know how you are getting your figure of 30,000.
You are talking about play money now anyways.
There recently was a fare from frankfurt to Bangkok at 2700 in emirates first. Reasonable fares pop up quite often.
The pay 4000 to save 10000 logic is deeply flawed.
More like spending 3000 more for flying better food and a shower with a nice seat.
Hey Lucky,
I live in the UAE and was going through the local news when I found this and thought you'd be interested.

Nice review as always!
Any plans for an Emirates long haul business class review soon?
From the pictures it looks like Emirates doesn't give you a caviar spoon? I hope they aren't plating it using metal in the galley too!
Yeah. It's gotten really bad! I get at least 2 pop ups a day and I only read Lucky and Gary!
Really inconvenient for RSS users since the article disappears once you click it. All I'm left with is bad graphics and a computer barking at me in broken english!
@NerdBird "Emirates doesn’t give you a caviar spoon?"
Disgusting, isn't it? I believe only NH serves caviar at all properly. A little nacre is cheap compared to all the caviar you'll ruin without it.
@Joe "More like spending 3000 more for flying better food and a shower with a nice seat."
That's pretty much the definition of F, Joe. Nobody's going to eliminate Y anytime soon for you and the other fans of back pain and deep vein thrombosis. I was going to add the fans of eating caviar with a metal spoon, but it looks like the caviar in F on EK is served the same as the caviar in Y.
Thanks for the tip re amenity kit and pyjamas on day time flights - am doing SIN-BNE next April which departs at 3pm so if its not offered,, I will know to ask for it
Maybe a downer but appropriate for the day... I was wondering too about the camera in first class. Bizarre? Maybe. If one has more of an Oliver Stone theory about it.... All the hijackers on 9/11 were seated on first class. Just bad food for thought.
