Virgin Australia Velocity Devaluations Continue: New Redemption Surcharges

I just had to cancel a trip to Japan. Booked ANA via Virgin Atlantic (used 30% xfr bonus from AMEX). I can't rebook till Jan or so for travel next Nov. Do you see me taking a huge hit?

Velocity is part owned by a PE firm, so it was bound to happen at some stage

VA this week has been like hearing about Etihad, only getting worse by the day. As a domestic option, they are a great alternative, but to be honest, extremely far from QF. Even with the higher surcharges, QF has way better availability and redemption options due to OW partners.

Virgin Australia and Virgin Atlantic are 2 different airlines that has completely different loyalty program. This devaluation is related to Virgin Australia's Velocity so has absolutely no impact to your redemption with Virgin Atlantic.
