I agree that the seasonality of some of these routes including a chunk of demand on FRA-SLC might be backwards.

KLM used to fly to SLC during the summer but they probably don’t count since they’re a Delta JV partner

I like the Ft. Myers route (though I agree with you about the seasonal backwardness of it). RSW is much closer than TPA to the most beautiful parts of the southwest Gulf Coast, from Naples, to the 10,000 islands to the Everglades. If I were a nature- & beach-loving tourist, from a cold clime, that’s where I would want to head in Winter.

The hard product of Eurowings Discover is identical to Lufthansa: same economy, premium economy and business class seats.
Lufthansa is expecting that tourism will recover before business travel - and that’s exactly what we are currently seeing in Europe. Restrictions are lifted between Germany and Spain and within hours flights are sold out.
Main idea of Eurowings discover is to save Labour costs. Sun express was closed and FA, CA and FO could apply for a job at Eurowings Discover while earning significantly less than at Sun Express and even Germanwings.

Not entirely correct. It also serves as a jobs program for middle and upper management as well as 'consultants' who would have no work if they didn't invent a new unsuccessful LH subsidiary every few years.

I'm guessing Lufthansa route planning go wind of the top 5 ice cream shops in Ft Myers and realized they had no choice but to throw a widebody on it.

Central America certainly has its charms, but I can easily think of much better destinations for German sun-junkies than Panama (Belize, Costa Rica, Los Cabos, Mexico City, Roatan...).

This still to be starting to fly and still in the progress of finally taking off NEW low cost airline of the Lufthansa Group has already it's reputation in Germany ot under the new assîgned name Eurowings Discover, but more under the name Eurowings Disaster.

Yes, just like so many other airline brands under the Lufthansa Group, the PR seems to be better then the REAL outcome.
Just like in recent years when new and cheaper airlines around Lufthansa were founded and routes were put on sale and announced, booking passengers had there struggle to really get on there booked flights, as they simply were announced and sold, but did just not take place.
Already happened this way with 4Y (Eurowings "Disaster" Discover), Frankfurt - Anchorage, already cancelled, before any of there A-330's ever took off at all.
I guess, Lucky knows what it means being booked and sold a ticket on a flight (like AirBelgium in past years) but then you're told, sorry, we won't fly. Refunds could take quiet long, especially at Lufthansa Group Airlines as we might all know after 2020 and still today! (The recording at Lufthansa Group call centers all around the world even announce a backlog of refunds, that's why most of the time they "invested" in finally ability on online changes to your bought ticket)
Since November 2020, when "Ocean" then but by now Eurowings "Disaster" Discover started hiring Crews and staff, even inflight Crew at 70% pay for sitting at home since then and costing money but not 1 single hour in the air as of May 2021 and paid full since May 2021, it just shows what a disaster this airline already is.
As said, the PR and announcements at Lufthansa Group is done with a push, that you better believe 1/2 of it and then you start to understand, why Lufthansa is a 5* airline!
Money does it all, it seems it just does not matter in that airline group.
Old Airbus A-330 from former Edelweiss and SunExpress Germany as well as old A-320 from Eurowings and Eurowings Europe will get the fleet started.
Salt Lake City, in my eyes a way to compensate for the non operated flights to Alaska, as there announced Anchorage flights never happened.
All in all, Lufthansa is trying to attack the once owned airline Condor in Frankfurt, serving identical routes, but with Crew that earns an absolut Minimum for German Aviation standards.

It's done in the same way as once attacked airberlin and once that was history and Lufthansa Group announced the takeover of most of there employees in there low cost airline branches, it was all a lie.
Don't be surprised to see many familiar faces on (4Y) Eurowings "Disaster" Discover planes from former discontinued airlines, like Brussels, Eurowings Europe, SunExpress Germany, Germanwings, all from the Lufthansa Group once praised high but then dumped like dirt.
Let's hope people realize, that flying needs a certain standard and quality?
Cheap and cheaper is not a safe way these days.
Producing cheap is not always a way to success as many other airlines proofed in recent years, e.g. Norwegian, SunExpress Germany, Air Italy.
Will be interesting how an airline Group that's receiving Billions from a government on aid money will start another airline for low paid employees, while at the same time firing there own people from existing airlines?
If background info will be spread widely and people possibly take a closer look behind those closed doors of the Lufthansa Group leaders that work hand in hand to keep things in the dark or even underground on there scheme, i wonder how that will work out on the long run?
Eurowings "Disaster" Discover was assigned 4Y airline code, i ask myself too, WHY? 🙂
4 why should i fly that low cost and low paid airline, that has blood on there planes already.

flying under very lose EU ops, but of course with pretty long layovers at the beginning, due to there non daily operating flights to all there destinations.
Hiring under 24 months contracts, not really a chance to get much of a higher pay until the contract expires and the next generations will be hired.

That Salt Lake City route totally makes sense considering Europeans throng the national parks (esp. the Big 5), and bike on the trails from June to September. And, there are many who visit Park City in Winter. We visit SLC every summer, and sometimes in Winter, the number of European visitors keeps increasing every year.

With SLC more than halfway through its airport expansion, I’m glad to see a new foreign airline have a direct route added. The new main part of the airport has been done for about 6 months now and part of the expansion plans included enticing more direct international flights. I’m not sure when the international terminal will be done, but being SLC-based, I’m glad to see more airlines and international offerings starting to come through like we hoped would happen.

I don’t think Delta will be too bugged about it. They’re well invested in this hub, having paid for a good chunk of the airport construction themselves, and they certainly have plenty of passengers flying them from here. Could be because of the pandemic, but they’ve had some good route fares lately that I’ve been going with them over JetBlue and SW.

Just be careful with *A FFP on these flights. While UA and (obviously) LH programs earn and enjoy benefits on EW operated flights, this is not necessarily the case for other *A FFP, e.g. AV, TP, TK, even if the flight is booked under a LH code.

Utah receives hundreds of thousands of tourists from France and Germany every summer. Every time I go to the national parks, I run into French and Germans.

Eurowings Discover is not EW, but 4Y. Eurowings and Eurowings Discover have their own AOC each.

I think it's wonderful!! Thank you very much! Being from Germany, and living in Utah, I was so excited to learn from my brother today, that the flight will be non-stop from Salt Lake to Frankfurt! Only wish it had been around when my children were young. Transfers on the East Coast were always a bit difficult, when traveling alone with my little ones. So thank you very much!!
