i've worked at major institutions that have had standing rules that they do not do business with Musk companies, and those rules were carved out of much blood, sweat, tears, and mostly, uncollected bills of staggering magnitude. starlink is unique among Musk products in that it actually does what it says on the label, but the critical degree of inherent third party risk does not go away - it takes a whole lot to install new wifi equip on planes, and if you decide to put your eggs in that basket and then Musk decides that you've been insufficiently obsequious to his ego and pulls it (e.g., like he did in Ukraine), it's a catastrophic business disruption

ED bastian is known to be an arrogant and celebrity CEO. We all know that with delta, in a 50-50 deal. Delta wants the hyphen.
I suspect here Ed found a deal he could not dictate and the alternatives were not that great(ie amazon). Musk was in a better position to negotiate. (Regardless of your opinion of musk).
