Delta Airbus A330s Getting Tip-To-Tail Retrofit, New Business Class Suites
Delta has made some exciting passenger experience announcements today. In addition to revealing its new business class suites that will be available on upcoming Airbus A350-1000s, the airline has also announced plans to retrofit its Airbus A330-200/300s with a new (but different) business class product.

Excellent. 332 is still a beautiful aircraft. On some of DL's I like the two lavs in front. Newer seats/suites will be a welcome retrofit. And the stylish, darker color scheme fits well.
DL's 332s and 333s have two labs at front of cabin, but the 339s have onevup front and one at the back of J. I'm guessing that latter lav gets shared with PE. Not my preference. I wonder if the lavs will be reshuffled.
These seats are perfectly comfortable on Virgin’s 339s so not a surprise and potentially creates consistency across the pond.
"Delta’s claiming that 90% of Delta One seats will have privacy doors by 2030 is an interesting detail."
42 aircraft interior renovations in four years? That's a bit aggressive compared to DL's demonstrated ability WRT aircraft interior renovations in the past.
completion of this fleet plus the confirmed 35Ks along with the current 339 and 359 fleets will take DL well over 140 aircraft. add in options and DL will be pushing close to 200 Delta One Suite equipped aircraft in the early 2030s.
and DL says the 764s get fairly high ratings by customers - far different than the 763s.
Despite the different seat choices, it's nice that Delta is going more consistent with things that matter with all of their new seats. Doors, large TV screens (though technically United has larger screens with their Polaris Studio at 27'' - Delta is the largest for a standard seat among US carriers), and the finishes on the product which look upscale and I think will age quite nicely (in terms of both wear and tear related to color choices but also in terms of still looking modern for a number of years).
Delta's A330-300s, A330-200s have outdated, uncomfortable Delta One cabins that are well past their expiry date and anything but premium. They are almost as bad as the product on the 767-300/400ER.
I prefer the 332 and 333 over 764, but the updated 764 is decent (basically a suite, no door).
Wait, I thought you said that it doesn't matter what customers want/like? I thought it was all about being held captive based on corporate contracts and location. Whatever fits you narrative, Tim...
Lipstick on an extremely smelly Airbus pig, from the airline that brought you evil.
Looks terrible. Why anyone would consider flying a skyteam carrier is beyond me
And, are those screens too big for the human eye at that distance? Too funny.
It's nice having snacks displayed right next to a toilet. It veritably screams "premium deliciousness, now take a dump."
Planes are already 18 years old. With the new cabins, how long does DL plan to keep flying them?
Galley space on all aircraft types and on all airlines have toilets next to them.
It's something inevitable in the continued chase for space optimisation
Air France is a SkyTeam carrier, and they have a great long haul business class product.
Have you actually flown before? What aircraft doesn’t have a lav next to a galley?
Looks nice. I fly SkyTeam almost exclusively so hopefully, I'll benefit. The 330s really need it. Usually I get Virgin Atlantic's A350 to London or Delta's 767 which is showing its age.
Similar setup with BA Club Kitchen, which are also adjacent to the toilets
No reason any properly maintained Boeing or Airbus aircraft can’t go 30-40 years. If you keep up with it, the customer is pleased. If not, it’s just, well, a DL 767.
Having flown on several products with doors, I (mostly) don’t get the appeal.
If I remember correctly, other than a few of EK’s 777s and ET’s 3-room suite, none of them are really private, and I find the pseudo-privacy, where someone can peek in over the top, kinda weird. I feel just as comforted by a well designed stationary partition as I do by a half-door. Plus, I’m guessing these doors are heavy, contributing to fuel consumption in an outsized — and in my mind unnecessary — way.
Finally, there is a difference for me between being isolated and feeling cozy. For the latter, I love the Air France’s curtains. If I could fly just one hard product, that would be it.
This upgrade program is unlikely to help Delta to become a World Class Airline this year …. however …. it might help future ratings.
I can't tell if these seats are cheap and sticky plastic/plasticized leather or they've finally upgraded to premium breathable fabric.
