China Eastern has just taken delivery of their first of 20 Airbus A350-900 aircraft. Pictures of their interiors have emerged and they are looking pretty impressive.

Presumably what they saved on paint for the outside has been invested on the inside!

Not a surprising choice, given that Thompson Aero is owned by AVIC. Thompson and AVIC sister companies were promoting this business+ concept for bulkheads at AIX this year.

Interesting how they went with an unconventional test registration for this aircraft - it has the tail number B-304D.

Looks like they aren't following the format B-#### anymore?

+1 @Mark

AVIC is really developing a nose-to-tail approach to aircraft interior and upholstery. It's incredible that they have even purchased their injection molding shops to maintain complete control on the technology and manufacturing development. They are also the suppliers for the econ cabins for SQ, last I checked.

Oh my gosh, reminds me on Swiss‘ F, doesn‘t it? Of course, the seat isn‘t that wide but obviously a great improvement on their hard product.

That air living room is their first class product, based on Thompson Vantage First

The reason you may see Chinese press saying that they are super business class is because China is going through certain anti-corruption movement to block government officials to travel in first class. So the airlines had to come up with new name to justify for certain people.

Blimey: BA hatred has reached a new level. James wrote:

“This would put them light years ahead of whatever British Airways comes up with for their A350s, which I have very low expectations of.”

So you don’t even know what BA will come up with, yet, somehow, you *know* this product will be “light years ahead”. How does that make any sense?!

And yes, of course China Eastern’s product *might* be better. But the point is we don’t know, do we? So why the gratuitous BA jab?

@ The nice Paul - I should have clarified that with 'whatever I expect BA will come up with' which is alternating, forward/rear facing seats that have direct aisle access and slightly more privacy but are otherwise not a huge improvement on the current seats.

These are the designs BA have already submitted patents for (though they may have since changed their minds).

I'm certainly not expecting 1-2-1 with sliding doors!

That business meeting room would be horrible! What passengers would want to listen to that! Please stick to encouraging quiet activities like watching movies and sleeping.

I flew RT JFK-PVG couple of weeks ago and i learned 2 things:
1) seat is very very comfy
2) food sucks!!!!!! Some are not even edible. No available snacks that you can easily get without asking. Lesson here is to bring wood that will last you for the next 15 hrs.

Think I'd rather bring food for 15 hrs

@ James - I can think of another airline that has "forward/rear facing seats that have direct aisle access and slightly more privacy" - Qatar Q Suites.

As a side note, I think the product in the BA patent applications looks fantastic, isn't full flat, direct aisle access and no for cubby pretty much the Holy Grail of business class?

I love China Eastern. The current business product is quite comfortable. I actually got a good nights sleep on my flight. This looks like a significant improvement. I would love to try it.
