Good morning, and welcome to today's community discussion thread! Today's posts will appear here throughout the day, but this thread is for going off-topic. Did you love/hate something about today's coverage? Are you tracking other news I missed? Or, do you just have a general question about rewards travel? This is the place for your wandering thoughts.

Today's posts on OMAAT:

Daily threads stay open for a week, so it's never too late to jump into a recent conversation.

Hope everyone has a pleasant Labor Day weekend! Safe travels if you’re headed anywhere (hopefully, somewhere interesting!)

@lucky Pardon my delayed response. Finally found decent redemptions for my Delta RUCs for transcon in D1. Not the most exciting trip, but D1 on 339 for the 6 hours is still a treat. Tried new mini-D1 at LAX T2; still prefer main D1 lounge at T3, but the more the merrier. (Can’t believe LAX people mover isn’t running yet. *sigh*)

@1990_ Gosh, no people mover yet? Who'd have thought? Last trip I mastered the shuttle to the transit centre. Not sure if I prefer the organised [sic] chaos at LAX or the $10 BART surcharge. There are better airport experiences out there. Somewhere. Perhaps though, a decent reward redemption can compensate for such concerns.

Happy Labor Day weekend to all.  Though initially skeptical of the new structure, I'm finding that the discussion commentary in many of the articles is more robust and insightful, like we are getting more out of each other.  It feels as though the rational conversation is diluting out the emotional, silly comments more effectively (kinda like at a family gathering, where you hope the sane ones outnumber the crazy ones).  Anyone else agree, or is it maybe that the new structure is motivating me to pay more attention to the comments now, and I'm finally appreciating that part of the OMAAT community?

@msntriathlete Happy Labor Day to you as well! I'm delighted to hear that, and it matches my (admittedly biased) take. The internet has become a strange and largely unkind place, so as we set out to make some updates, we thought of how we could encourage more positive interactions and a sense of community.

I also get the sense people are being kinder, and I think that's a combination of factors -- encouraging people to register makes them perhaps act a bit more nicely than just leaving anonymous comments, there are "rewards" for positive interaction (including fewer ads), etc. For what it's worth, the number of comments that we've had to moderate has gone done materially as well.

I also think it's telling how our historically most "contentious" commenter for so long seems to have voluntarily just stopped commenting a few weeks ago. Everyone can make of that what they will, but I'd be shocked if it weren't related to the changes.

There's definitely been a noticeable decrease in terms of trolling and/or offensive comments - I thought this was the ramped up moderation, but having to register likely helps as well. Either way it's been a lot better indeed so thanks to the OMAAT team!

And yes, I noticed the same about the infamous commenter 😬...

Happy Labor Day!

Less add pop ups has made the experience so much nicer. And I never used the community area before. I know probably some will disagree but it reminds me of the good old days of flyer talk before it became obsolete. I am also debating how much better the experience is when you are Platinum or Diamond level. I will purchase the three month pacakage to test it. Thank you Ben for the last 10+ years of information.
