Citi ThankYou has just informed members that points transfers to two partners will be devalued in the coming weeks. This is a change that I suspect many people won’t be happy about.

This article doesn't mention that Wells Fargo also partners with Choice Privileges and points transfer at 1:2. So there is actually an alternative for people who care about uses of Choice points now that Citi won't have the best ratio.

How was this message sent? I’ve received no email and there is no indication of the change on the TY site.

Does it affect all cards?

I got an email from Citi about the changes two days ago.

Not all Preferred Hotels locations allow redemptions (either via iPrefer or Choice - Frequent Miler has a good overview). The Montage Big Sky, which are pictured in this post's photos, is one such hotel that doesn't have award redemptions.

This is really a big disappointment with respect to iPrefer. It was really the only hotel transfer option we actively used and we generate a lot of TYP, so it makes them look less valuable. So sad. We did start to diversify into Bilt points so we can earn less TYP, so this helps further justify that decision. Good luck to us all.

Well, guess I won't be renewing the Strata Elite.

Based on the memo, this devaluation should NOT affect clients who transfer points from their Citi Strata Elite: "Effective 04‍/19‍/‍2026, the redemption value for points transferred from the ThankYou Rewards account associated with your Citi Strata Premier® to one or more Travel Loyalty Partners will change."

People with the strata elite have received emails that say it will change for them too.

I got great redemptions on I prefer points and put all misc spend toward TY. After my final 1:4 redemption I'm moving misc spend to my Venture X.
