~151k Citi points for one night at the Ritz... could be worth it if you've got a huge stash burning a hole with no other uses available I guess. My first thought is that if I absolutely had to do this using points I'd probably use Amex FHR, and then the pay with points feature so you still get the FHR perks. A very quick spot check shows Amex's cash rate is 18% less than LHW's cash rate, so the difference + free breakfast would make this way more valuable IMO.
Regarding breakfast, to use points you have to join the Leaders Club, and a Leaders Club benefit is breakfast for 2 (and upgrade priority). No $100 welcome amenity like you get with FHR, of course.
Didn't know that, thanks. That actually tips the scales in Citi's favor for using points then because, even with the lower Amex cash rate, transferring to LHW is still less points and the perks are more or less the same.
Great that Citi added a new hotel transfer partner. However, it appears that I can get much better value using Hyatt points for SLH properties.
Not bad if can't find uses of citi ty points for greater values than 1.6 cents, but I think it's far better to transfer to turkish m&s for their sweet spot redemption including international business class
Call me crazy if you want, but Citi points transferring to Choice (and their Preferred Hotels partnership), and Accor (with all their high end properties), and now LHW...it almost makes me start to think that Citi points are the way to go for high end hotel redemptions at reasonable value.
Just stayed last month at LHW’s in Capri and Portofino paying cash and earned enough for a free night in Budapest next year. Breakfast included and early check-in and late checkout, (subject to availability). Very impressive properties and equivalent to the 2 SLH’s we also stayed in in Santorini and Lake Como.
So many incredible aspirational properties are available on LHW! I'm all in on citi!
