Citi Double Cash is a solid no annual fee credit card. It offers 1x ThankYou points when you make a purchase and 1x ThankYou points when you pay for that purchase, making it one of the best cards for everyday spending. Points can be transferred to some airline and hotel partners as well, making the card more valuable to those looking for more options than cash back.

Do you use the Double Cash, or do you prefer another cash back card?

Since my bank offers a 2% cash-back-only card with no AF or FTF, I'll stick with that. Still, the ability to transfer to AA at 70% (so 70% of 1.5¢ per mile equals 1.05¢ per point or a return of 2.1%) could fit in my card portfolio if it hadn't grown so large.

'Throw (us) a frickin' bone here!' Well, which is it? Wells? Fidelity? Or, yet another cop-out, like usual. Flexing a 'large portfolio' while sleeping on Citi-to-AA transfers is penny-wise, pound...

This nails it. Citi Strata Premier and Citi DoubleCash has to be the best duo out there. For $95 it’s a steal and an easy set up for most people that 1) is not complicated and 2) comes with the ability to reach a human if you need support.

Nope. Amex gold and plat is best duo..if we’re talking domestic trips then use the points for international trips. No contest.

Shitibank cards often do not even work at any given time when it’s time to pay. I’d rather do chase preferred and freedom flex as my duo than shitibank duo. But maybe it’s also because I have class at expect to be treated as such.

Ben,
It would be valuable to add your experiences dealing with each card companies service levels. Citi is notorious for their long wait times when you call in. For example, yesterday morning I signed up for the Strata Elite and almost instantly regretted it. I attempted to pay my $900 rental car bill in the afternoon and the payment was denied. It took 3 phone calls and 1 hr 50 minutes of total time on the phone to fix the issue. Their verification process in it's own right is insane. Stark contrast from dealing with Amex.

You might be doing this already, but the Strata Elite phone number is separate and my experience with them is a lot better than with the typical Citi customer service number

I'll admit, they're not perfect, but I still like DoubleCash (and several of Citi's existing products), especially now that AA transfer are back. On the "Product change and downgrade option" sub-topic, I've had luck downgrading from Premier to Custom Cash in the past (may no longer be possible). What specific products can one downgrade from to DoubleCash? I'd recently asked about AA (Exec, Globe, Platinum Select, etc.) and Costco, but 'no dice'. Is it now just lateral Strata, Custom Cash (maybe Premier). Think this has been a change since sometime last year (2025).
