The World of Hyatt Credit Card (application) is one of the easiest ”worth it” calls of any card I hold at a $95 annual fee, the anniversary free night award alone is worth more than the fee, so the hold-for-perks math isn’t really in question.

I wish they'd expand the free night cert to Cat5 but I still manage to find uses for it every year. Agree it's a no-brainer to keep the card

Annual free night and another one after spending 10k make this card a keeper.

WHOA...Ben, Hyatt points are absolutley not still worth 1.5 cpp following the May 20 devaluation. You haven't lowered your valuation at all. I'll assume this is an oversight not marketig spin. Hyatt points are now worth about 1.25 cpp, and dropping. Why would you use the WOH VISA card at a Hyatt hotel when you could use the CSR and earn 4x UR points, which are more valuable than 4x Hyatt points?

They really need to up the category to Cat 5. Card has more or less remain unchanged over the years except the increase to the annual fee meanwhile Hyatt has devalued their chart to include more categories and more expensive categories. Maybe using it on a "high season" Cat 4 would be a good way to utilize it. Agree that I've been lucky and had a use case for it every year but I've come close to not being able to use it on any of my stays

I have seen redemption's like in Hyatt Regency Lisbon which went from Cat 4 to Cat 5 after the recent devaluation at LESS than 1 cpp.

So to value the points at 1.5 cpp is a massive overvaluation of Hyatt points

I never worry about making sure I redeem the annual free night for a Cat 4, just that I redeem it somewhere where the sticker price of the room that night is more than $95. Don't think I've ever redeemed it for less than a $150 room rate.

I used to have the Hyatt credit card for quite a few years. The challenge for me was that most of the semi desirable hotels that I would stay at moved from category 4 up to 5 or higher. It's not that exciting to use it on a $150/nt Hyatt Place.

I wish they had the option of paying up in points to use in a category 5 or 6 hotel with the certificate or increase the annual fee to $150 and make the certificate count up to category 5.

Say what you will about Marriott Bonvoy, but at least you can now use up to 25k points to buy up to a more desirable room.

Garbage(Grand) Hyatt Istanbul is still Cat4. Maybe I will try one more time.

Hyatt's recent recategorization of properties really hurt the free cat 1-4 night value. There is no longer a single cat 1-4 property anywhere in Manhattan, for example, which is a joke. Yes, you can do Jersey City, or Long Island, but...

Same in SF. Same in LA except for the places near the airport. Same in any part of greater Tokyo you'd want to be. Cat4 used to mean "mid/lower market hotel" and now it means "no hotel" in these areas.

I feel like all of my interest in getting the brand specific cards Chase has for airlines/hotels kind of went out the window when I started just getting 4x on CSR for direct bookings with airlines and hotels and 8x via the portal. I can book and trivially manage United bookings at 8x and I can get points which can be used elsewhere instead of locking them into Hyatt. Up the perks. I only bit on a United card (and hardly ever use it) because of the cardmember perks they're now offering. Hyatt needs to do something similar

Gene, I hate to break it to you, but bloggers are going to ride 1.5 cpp into the sunset. There will always be some edge case that supports it, somehow.

I've learned to find peace in 1cpp with Fidelity, with the plan that it will grow when I invest it into FXAIX. It won't get worse (over the long run) and that's a win. 😉

This card sucks because there's not really any Category 4 properties worth staying in. I rather have Hyatt raise the annual fee and give me a Category 5. I end up having to stay at a Hyatt Place because no properties accept this FNC.
