Didn't the card used to offer Gold status anyway? Just another decline over the years...

Although at one time (maybe a dozen years ago), Marriott Gold status actually meant something and came with tangible benefits, that is very far in the past and today's “gold” benefits mean very little. (There are any number of other “free” ways of getting this status.) Even “titanium” status means very little these days – you still are nickel-and-dimed to death with “fees” of every sort, many Marriott properties do everything possible to deny breakfast and lounge facilities that are allegedly part of the deal, etc.

This “deal” is worth bupkis!

Marriott….Overpriced rooms and overcomplicated and stingy loyalty program. PERFECT FOR THE CSR!
