In 2020 we first learned the details of Greater Bay Airlines, which will be Hong Kong’s newest airline. The airline is hoping to launch operations in the coming weeks, so in this post I wanted to provide an update on what we know, especially as Greater Bay Airlines’ website is now up.

why does a "pro-Beijing stance" seem odd to you? If you don't have a pro-beijing stance you can't function. Being pro Hong Kong will land you in jail for a long time at best or you will just disappear depending on what the show trial feels that day
He didn't say it was odd. He said it was interesting to note, and indeed it was as politics usually don't need to be mentioned in the context of a new airline launch.

Yep. A pro-Beijing stance is euphemism for a pro-Authoritarian, genocidal regime that (no surprise) can't keep its word.
As opposed to American, United and Delta who spend millions of dollars bribing US politicians and ripping off American tax payers with tax breaks and subsidies galore from a US government with a long and very well documented 200 year history of genocide, slavery and various other human rights abuses that continue is to this very day. It never ceases to amaze me how Americans self righteously criticise China and then hypocritically accept and empower their own country to act even worse, year in and year out.

Hong Kong government has already told Greater Bay Airlines that it won't be able to operate till earlier 2022. The website is vague at best and I am not sure what to expect from it. Given Hong Kong's closed border policy, I don't see how an airline can be launched at this time. Thailand is on Hong Kong's high risk list, which means 21 days hotel quarantine on return. Mainland China requires Hong Kong residents to enter 14 days hotel quarantine on arrival too.

Having been to Asia 150+ times, I have learned one thing: avoid carriers like this. They'll be the Spirit Airlines of mainland China, only worse.
