In September 2025, we saw the Capital One mileage program add Japan Airlines Mileage Bank as its newest transfer partner. We’ve just seen the program introduce its third transfer bonus to the program since launch, and it could represent a good deal. However, it still won’t quite get you a 1:1 transfer ratio.

What else are you going to use C1 points for?

Meh, the BILT rent day bonus was better…

(C1 won’t approve me, so I can’t do this anyway. Workin’ on it though…)

Keep in mind their award chart is not static, if supply/demand is tight the mileage needed goes up. These days it's common that even if the chart says 55,000 miles you can't find that flight for less that 150,000 miles for several months out. Not good value for money in my opinion.

I enrolled in the JL program yesterday to explore award possibilities. JL does not allow redemptions until one has been enrolled for 60 days. Who knows if the C1 transfer bonus will exist in June.

Keep checking. It seems some are getting access before that 60 day mark. Honestly, not sure in my case. I have access now, didn't a week ago. I think I signed up sometime in early March.

To start with, C1 transfer ratio to JL is worse than Bilt’s, so C1 with bonus = Bilt with no bonus.

If you transfer points into the account, you should get access within a few days. Just transfer 1000 points, to be safe. I did this a few months ago and it worked. There are articles about this method.

Great value for LATAM business class at 85k JAL (113.5k Cap1) + $45USD -- just booked my grandparents roundtrip from NYC to SCL last week. Of course there is now a transfer bonus that would have saved me 60k miles!

Perhaps the bigger story is the growing frequency that Capital One is offering transfer bonuses for Japan Airlines JMB and other frequent flyer programs. Although I am a member of JMB, I don't participate much, because it isn't as competitive for itineraries between North America and Southeast Asia. EVA is a really good option for those awards. Like JMB, Capital One normally has a transfer ratio of 4:3 to EVA's FFP. There was a transfer bonus a couple of months ago for that. Offering both Japan Airlines and EVA as transfer partners, Capital One is increasingly competitive as an airline transfer currency, especially with the frequent transfer bonuses.

Does anyone have any data about whether JAL recognizes registered domestic partners like spouses?

JMB just does have the supply to meet the massive new demand by all the point transfers to its FF program in last years. And it shows in the availability.
