Big Capital One Venture X Lounge Access Changes Live: Here's What's New

You say that the default on the authorized user is no lounge access. Where do you go to enable lounge access and pay the $125? How do I do that?

I always fly solo so I don’t mind this. The less crowded the better.

I am a card holder and am happy with the changes. The card remains such great value for the cost and I prefer less crowding.

Excited to see what the otherwise typically busy DFW lounge looks like later today.

P2 and I both have this card and appreciate the non-couponified version of a premium card. Happy with this change. Hopefully this new policy reduces overcrowding at lounges.

thinking the lounges would be less crowded with this change is a bit too early to tell. I doubt it will change anything given that how many credit cards offer priority pass. I haven't seen anyone who travels a bit without priority pass. Of course my parents travel once or twice but those are not crowding the lounges....
Anyway, which cards still have guest privileges? Amex plat?

Priority Pass for an authorized user was issued last October and shows an expiration date of Oct 2026. Is it still valid until then for this one user?

Under your account, there's a "Manage Users" area where you can add AUs, it will have a link to enable lounge access for the AU.

Amex walked so Capital One could run.

Capital One is realizing they just need to not be worse than the worst out there. There's not much value gained by maintaining policies that are helpful for customers if the competition isn't.

I can't get approved for Capital One. Applied once when Venture X came out, and recently again, both rejected. Any advice on pushing one of these through? No issues churning anyone else. I'm an AU on my wife's card. I only use the lounge occasionally. So I guess best practice is to not turn on lounge access until I have a trip coming up, then evaluate whether it's worth it for the $125 for one year?

Surprised this set up lasted this long. I've been going to the one in DFW since it opened, back when it wasn't crowed. Right away I knew crowding would become an issue, when you could add free AU's and they could in turn guest people in (myself included).

So if I spend $75k on the VX Biz will my authorized users also have guest access after I pay the $175 or is it just the primary user?

Primary users cannot even bring in one guest without paying? Seems a bit ridiculous to not be able to bring in P2 when every other card I have allows for that.

Regardless of access rules, C1 lounges are still gonna be as good as or slightly better than Amex or Chase, depending on the airport, and far better than most Priority Pass options. Like, at JFK T4, my goodness, C1 is far better than the awful PP Wingtips-Primeclass-HelloSky lounge or Maharaja lounge.

They would have given you a reason for the rejections - electronically and even via regular mail.

This is fine. The REAL devaluation is being unable to get into the lounge without a two hour wait and once inside, screaming kids and the food looks like a bomb hit it. Anything to thin the herd is a plus. Pay up or go to the gate....and take the kids to McDonald's. They'd rather be there anyway. $125 isn't going to deter too many though. It needs to be $300/400 to move the needle.

I agree this change is overdue. I haven’t been able to get into the lounge at DFW in at least a year. As it presently stands, the lounge benefit is worthless.

I think the changes are negative for some and positive for others. I just got into DFW with zero wait. I welcome the changes.

So...which Priority Pass option from all of the different credit cards out there is the best now?

Just cancelled my card. I had to wait 3x now for a prolomged period of time to even get into the lounge at IAD, and the front desk people were as rude and dismissive as only the LH lounge dragons could be 😉

Make your payments on a timely basis

The quality of the food and service at the lounge at DFW has decreased dramatically! So they are asking for more money, yet they are offering less...double whammy

There is a straightforward waitlist feature on the app that works pretty well. Depending on the wait, you join the waitlist while going through security (or while approaching the airport/terminal), and by the time you are in front of the lounge it will be your turn. At least it used to be like this every single time it was full...now that the food quality has gone downhill, it's definitely not the same anymore!

The auth user lounge access removal was too generous and needed to be dropped. But the primary user guesting should have stayed. My wife and I will keep our cards, they still offer great value, but losing the ability to bring our kids into lounges sours the taste a little.

SO very disappointing. I cannot even take my spouse in (Authorized user on my card) without paying.

I feel they should at least one free guest that would help the over crowded and pay 25 dollars each additional guest under 21 and join more lounge networks and build more lounges that’s my opion let’s voice are opion to capitol one

I have three AU on my account. Do I have to personally spend $75,000 this year on my card alone to unlock the benefit, or is it a plurality across all 4 cards?
