I think the best way to run an airline is to run an airline, not turn it into a credit card company. Kudos for Emirates for protecting the program's integrity so it actually rewards loyal customers, unlike some other programs where passengers are only seen as a nuisance (such as Flying Blue which now restricts the most attractive promo rewards to people who have a credit card or pay 400€ annual fee for FB Extra membership).
Quite Samo, after reading blogs like this, along with other ‘Points’ for miles programs, one can only conclude that most who participate in such trivia, believe that they are getting something for nothing. Some appear to forget that you don’t get owt-fr-nowt! What is given to you today, you actually paid for yesterday.
Obviously, I have no idea who started the gullible on this points type merry-go-round, however, many are hooked, well and truly.
EK is the most profitable airline. Clearly it's doing something right and not hurting for clients nor profits. Perhaps Ben, you will now stop schilling for it, simply because it has a shower on board its A380s.
Kinda like S&H Green Stamps in the mid-20th century. Of course nothing is really free, but if you don’t participate, you’re giving the “something” you already paid for, back to the company for “nothing.”
I really hope it hurts Emirates. If they devalue points then guess what I’ll try other airlines and if I like them then fly them more often for cash.
